My phone has been great for it, I can set alerts and tie each one to a brain workout puzzle (mostly exotic games of solitaire) throughout the day to provide the needed environmental shifts... but with each puzzle being short enough to not be overly disruptive. Breaks the fixation or monotony, whichever is happening, but then lets me get back on task when it's done.

Most of the credit goes to the solitaire app on my phone... over 250 different forms of the game. Free. I love whoever compiled that list.
