expired visa

Post by ofparadise »

Has anyone here tried to exit the country after their visa expired recently?

My visa has lapsed for 3 days... and I'm thinking about my options....

Should I just leave via the airport and pay the daily fines?

or extend at a travel agent for a month and cough up the money?

I'm asking because the KOW has gotten quite uptight about visas recently, and don't feel safe going directly to the airport.

Leave and pay the $10 per day overstay. If you apply for another visa or though an agency it’ll take minimum two weeks.

No issue.

My mother overstayed a tourist visa 6 weeks ago, no issues, if that's any help.

The above information is correct.

If you're leaving for good then take care of it at the airport and you're leaving like today. If you do it though a agency it doesn't necessarily take 2 weeks. My last one was 1 week, but can. Also even if you extend you still have to pay the overstay fee. That's how mine worked.

I was submitting it to my visa person on a Friday, my visa will run out on Sunday. Since they didn't have time to get it to the gov office before they closed I had to pay 2 day overstay, Sunday and Monday. I could have been ripped off by the visa person but meh I didn't care. And I seem to remember my visa was still stated when mine ran out. So even though it was renewed officially on Monday or Tuesday it still had the start date of Monday. But this was also a ordinary visa so not sure if it changes with tourist visa.

My daughter used to say this a lot, like, just at random, like, places. Like.

I blame, like, the Americans. Like.

Well, actually it was really tiresome - two delayed flights and Dad was an hour late picking her up because he forgot about daylight savings. How's your Mum doing, is she okay?
