There are no Apple branded stores in Phnom Penh.Ghostwriter wrote:Are Apple stores in L.A and PP delivering the same level of service and satisfaction ?
Mmmh, should, but didn't think so.
I doubt Apple would put a store in Cambodia anytime soon.
Re: Experience with Bred Bank
They are not Apple stores but there are multiple iOne stores in PP that sell new Apple products (sometimes not the most recent versions). Including phones, iPads, and computers. Same prices as Canada/US. I have always used the one in Canada Tower but not for the least few years. Main downside compared to Apple stores is they will not let you look inside the box before you buy to make sure you are getting a real one. Also, the last 2 times I was there the credit card machine was interestingly not working when they scanned my card (probably wasn't even plugged in to save 3%) so I went across the lobby to get cash from the Canada Bank. It seems all of their Apple products are synced to Singapore so probably their source of product.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 1:50 amThere are no Apple branded stores in Phnom Penh.Ghostwriter wrote:Are Apple stores in L.A and PP delivering the same level of service and satisfaction ?

Re: Experience with Bred Bank
All the reasons you mentioned are reasons why Apple won’t be putting down a store in Phnom Penh.
Apple focuses on delivery of superior service to sell the product.

Re: Experience with Bred Bank
That was an example, guys...
Based on my experience with Apple stores in Indonesia, who are useless when it comes to repair / fix / use the 5 years warranty, because it s all sent to Singapore for repairs anyway.
They mostly try to postpone the moment they are " in charge " of the item, and plot delays to give it you back.
If there was one in Cambodia, i would expect the same behavior.
That s for a computer.
Now, for money-based businesses such as banks.....
What about Western Union ? Bit more difficult in Kow than other close-by countries.
See ?

Maybe a tiny bit tied to the size of the market too, the awareness that pro shops are at a one hour flights max from PP, and that people willing to buy some are probably taking the opportunity to go on weekend in a nicer city and shop at the same time.
Also, some okhnas taking a international brand to Kow are sure well-funded, but also have a potential to screw partners and waste the brand's reputation, in a non very much collaborating country when it comes to exercing the law.
I'm sure there is plenty of examples worth a separate thread.
Isn't there ?
Re: Experience with Bred Bank
Yeah, it's been awhile since I've lived in PP, I definitely enjoy the slower pace of the not being in the city. Probably a lot more has changed too, but I won't be rushing back in to find out what.

Re: Experience with Bred Bank
OP- being a relatively new bank in Cambodia, I think there are probably few expats who have an account with them. They're more likely to use the established, popular ones like eg ABA, Acleda, Canadia that have more branches and ATMs. Also, you can easily pay online for many things using ABA Pay or transfer money to people. For example, I pay my rent that way to my landlord.rockyboy612 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 5:09 pm I recently opened a personal savings account in preparation for an employment with a company. They seem to be super slow and have a very dodgy process.
1. they allowed me to open the account based on screenshots of my address
2. they told me to deposit the money, gave a deposit slip then told me to wait tmrw
3. I followed up the next day says wait till the evening - did not happen
4. I followed up the 3rd day says evening again, then continued to ignore me the whole day
5. I tried going to the branch (Norodom) but found it's closed where clearly a giant sign outside says 8am to 8pm
This feels very familiar as a traditional khmer style operations where mistakes happen and people are left out to wonder.
Anyone with similar experience?
According to their web site, head office (the one on Norodom) is open 7 days a week, so odd you found it closed (unless it's a public holiday). The other branches are open M-F only.
Did you employer suggest Bred bank?
Keep us updated how you go opening the account. thanks

Re: Experience with Bred Bank
Yes my employer required to use Bred bank.
Here are the things i remember:
Minimum maintaining balance amount for Silver (lowest tier) = 50 usd
If account goes below minimum balance = have a fee (monthly until balance meets minimum)
If account goes dormant for 12mos = have a fee
I came back again today, input the PIN for the Visa card, got help to sign up with the app just to end up getting informed I need to come back again Monday afternoon for the actual card.
I find it very annoying knowing that they could have asked me to do the pin and the app the same day i opened the account or the day they release the card. Also they were having such a hard time sending me the temporary PIN through SMS. And they don't provide any copy of other documents not even the list of the policy.
I've had ABA for a while now and it only took 2 visits.
I've also had a chance to open one at Sathapana and surprisingly they were able to give me everything in the same day.
Now I have an app on my phone showing I have a hundred dollars but I can't use it in any way, because I don't have the visa card yet and they literally have NO e-wallet partners to transfer to.
It almost feel like im getting scammed for my money

If they're scamming you and somehow pull out of Cambodia, I'll personally give you $100.
Re: Experience with Bred Bank
According to wikipedia Bred bank owns 12.5% of ACLEDA and ACLEDA is not thai, but majority owned by cambodian interests with the remainder being owned by Japanese interests and BRED
