very professional & idiot free interface.
It's kinda cool that I even get receipt thru email with my full trip details as well as the map route.
will give a shout out :thumb: for this EXNET Taxi App that finally I can get the same service like Grab and Uber in Phnom Penh. Fare rate is really cheap even cheaper than a tuktuk ride.
It';s not about problems with the app itself. It's the permissions you must give to download the app.

Once again. Why would a taxi service app need access to photos/media/files, camera, wifi info, device ID? Hmmmm? WIFI info ok maybe. Photos/media/files, camera, device ID not so OK with me. SPYWARE.
Camera access allows you to take a photo for your user profile, media/files allows access to your gallery for an existing photo. Device ID is just to fuck with you.

@Luigi;
I got no idea why this happen with your device. Sorry to say, I have no knowlegde with some technical device problem. :sorry:
Just one thing for sure, allowing your device location can help to coordinate the GPS and driver can locate you. Regarding the device ID and others, I honestly cannot comment.

Well, when I saw the Exnet app posted on Facebook, I just downloaded it from Appstore and everything just installed normally. I remember that I received a 4-digit code to activate and link my mobile number.
Afterwards, good to go for booking my taxi.
One thing i'm so amazed, after I registered my email address, I would always receive a detailed summary receipt after each ride. It shows the driver information, trip duration, traveled distance as well as the gps map tracking that the driver took. It very convenient for me to reimburse my trip with my company.

I have copied the link from their Exnet facebook page.
Im not sure if you're with android or IOS device.
Maybe this direct link can help:

Install Exnet App on your IOS device:
https://appsto.re/sg/rxYDcb.i

Install Exnet App on your android device:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... nger.exnet

Or maybe you can check with Exnet company if they can asnwer your question for installing the app. For sure they can help you with this.

There is no problem with installing the app. Not my point. My point is they do not need access to those permissions I give when installing app. Those permissions make it out to be spyware.

The GPS location is fine. Why would they need to access to, Photos, Media, Files, Camera. SPYWARE!

I always wondered why apps need permissions for those things too, but yes, Epidemik is probably right. A bit of suspicion is always good though, doesn't mean you're paranoid. IN a lot of ways George Orwell was right in 1984. We're already giving up a lot of our privacy to Google, Apple and Microsoft.

After reading many professionally written answers to my question on various sites, C-net, Lifehacker, Security-stack exchange & others I'll stand with my assumption.

Data mining, spy-ware. Absolutely no need for a taxi company to have access to that much private info.

yeah agree google/facebook etc give up a lot of info etc, its almost scary sometimes when ive searched for something or been talking about something on chat, then all of a sudden theres advertisements for something related in the ad boxes

but in the grand scheme of things its not really effecting my life, and has actually proved really useful on many occasions eg. finding out that certain bands are going to be touring due to them spying on what bands i talk about/listen to etc

unless someones hacking into my bank or robbing my personal info in a way that can harm me, then its not worth worrying over

(just to note, i do agree with that your concerns are valid, just some people over think it)

Nope! No reason to be paranoid at all. On your way now.

That article is about preinstalled spy ware, not something Joe user has control over installing or not installing, so not really relevant to this discussion.

Here's what to worry about:

Image

high frequency encoded commands from any source, embedded in anything: TV, movies, ads, pop songs, other apps, and can communicate anything it's already been permitted when the app was installed, along with dropping cookies to influence ad placements and content preferences, across all devices.

Already active in lots of apps, already embedded in lots of content.

Positive first experience with Exnet for me today. Cheaper than a tuk tuk even being stuck in traffic for awhile and saved the headache I get from driving. May be time to sell the truck and hop on the Exnet bandwagon.
