Ever been Banged Up?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

There have been programs on Australian television from the US, about people on death row who were later proven to be innocent. Many of them, not just a few. With some, they only found out after they had been executed.

Even reading this forum, when someone is accused of something. The response is: hope they get tough punishment. People rarely say: they may have been falsely accused, or there may be two sides to the story.

It's rich that reporting what we talk about here is now considered a topic for their discussion.
Y'all sound like vapid puerile bitches, the way you harp on.

So now you think the news on here belongs exclusively to one forum or another.

I mean, wtf?

Yes, that was the point, obviously.

I give up pointing out the difference between being accused and being convicted. Innocent till proven guilty. We have lots of people here agreeing with all the corruption that goes on and then cannot/will not concede a set up, especially for a 'certain kind' I give up and give those posts a wide berth now. Its not worth it.

So clearly he was an RE mechanic then! My mate Jason has a Nepalese made that runs RE tours in Nepal. Supposedly half the enjoyment of the trip is keeping the RE's running.

My English mate had an old Trumpy he was proud of. He used to mock me for riding electric-start bikes. He'd come over for a quick cuppa before we'd go for a ride, and he'd head out to start his bike. I'd have another cuppa, pull the leathers on, wander out and jump on and sit whistling quietly, carefully not catching his eye while he sweated away trying to kick his bike over. Once he'd get it fired up, I'd casually ask if he was ready, I'd nudge the ignition on my Honda, and we'd go riding.

This was the only reason I commented on the cut-and-paste - obviously if I've posted, I've put it out there publicly and it becomes public domain. But to cut-and-paste to TOF for the purpose of ridicule ... I genuinely feel sorry for some of those guys. There are one or two quality posters over there, the rest are just hiding their pain.

Good thread this. I like to see people telling their stories. You really can’t make up stuff about the old days and why would people bother to lie.
So many books out now about drugs and smuggling. I find them all boring as fuck because I did it myself. I remember our friend Wayne who had done a run to Australia returning to Bangkok and coming to my old wooden house in Ekamai one night. He had exited Australia and entered Thailand with a crocodile skin briefcase full of Australian dollars.
And a sad story. My wife worked at the Grace Hotel coffee shop, her gang hung around the jukebox and were stunners. They lived in a wooden house on the klong on Soi 3 with the sun bear in the backyard chained to a post. One of the girls had a sister who lived in Goa with Charlie a Canadian guy who smuggled hash to Canada.
They were on a run on the Korean Airlines jet shot down by the Russians near Sakalin Island.

I've had more than a few people approach me and tell me I had to do something about Mr X, because he's a pedophile, and I should do something. I'm still unsure why it's me that's supposed to do something. When I ask why those people don't "do something" they invariably "don't want to get involved."

When I ask if they have first-hand knowledge of him being a pedophile, the answer is always, "Well, no, but my friend knows this guy who says..." or "EVERYBODY knows he's a pedophile!"

I always respond that I don't have any personal knowledge of Mr X being a pedophile so I'm not going to do anything at all, and if they don't have any personal knowledge they're slandering that person and participating in the Cambodian National Sport of Malicious Gossip. I've lost friends over this, but I guess that's a measure of those friendships, sadly.

Don't get me wrong, there's enough smoke around this guy to suspect there's fire - but unless I see it, it's not my business.

This "innocent until proven guilty" is an issue for me.

I've stated my crimes elsewhere, but what amazed me (although it shouldn't have) was the level of hypocrisy in the Church on my release. My offences were published in the media and on the record (hacking aka fraud and forgery) and yet by the time I was released most of that church genuinely believed I was a drug dealer, a pimp, a stand-over thug, a lab cook ... etc. and it turned out those few people starting the rumours were attempting to hide their own issues with the law. Apparently it wasn't enough that I robbed banks electronically - these people clearly had nothing else in life to do than invent crap like this.

When I returned to church for my first service, one of the deacons was waiting in the car park for me, walked me to a seat he'd reserved in a pew, and sat with me through the service, because he knew the gossip, and also because he'd served time for manslaughter in the ring (unlawful fight) and knew the Christian church can be a far more vicious place than prison. If it hadn't been for that one guy I'd have never returned. If I'm a Christian today, it's because of that guy Dave and his refusal to play the Gossip Game. Standing by me ended up costing Dave close relationships, but he never once mentioned what it cost him to me.

That's nothing.

They just let Fred Edwards/***** ****** * copy and past the entirety of an PM exchange between Gen Mack and himself.

What the fuck?
