ELT or some other school

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. ELT or some other school

Post by Otis »

My friend wants to take a school program to learn better English and some computer skills. She's about 30 and communicates well in English but grammar and writing skill could be better.

She mentioned a school on Street 136 call ELT. Anyone know about it or have another to recommend?

I think ACE is a good school, however i have never studied there. I couldn't afford it. I think if she has more time and doesn't mind to sit 3 hours in the classroom and if she has high school certificate. She should take class at the university (English Literature). At the university, she will learn more than those international language schools.

She definitely has never gone to high school. She learned most of her English as a labor contract maid in Malaysia and otherwise here and there.

I have no ideas about ELT as well since i have never learned English at private school. A friend of mine is teaching at ELT, i will ask him about that school. I think it would be better for your friend to study grammar and writing skill at Bak Tuk school first and it is relatively cheap as well. Then, she can take entrance exam at those good schools. She will save a lot of time and money if she could get higher level. Afaik, at Bak Tuk school, they also provide computer lesson. It is really cheap, she can study microsoft word, excel and powerpoint for about 15 dollar or can be lower than that. What are the computer programs she wants to learn?
