Elsewhere on the Internet today

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Yep - but that means you're stooping to their level, and hence not making this forum your own.

Granted, I've got worked up over certain non-issues and idiotic posters, must be time for a drink :D

i mean the admin of that forum literally alleged i was into kiddie porn to his members the other day until gavin came and cleared it up... that's a little over the top. not to mention his continuing twitter bashing and targeting/badmouthing of our advertisers...
Oh, don't be a drama queen. He didn't "literally allege" you were into kiddie porn, he just reiterated that you had communicated by PM with the child porn spammer he was tracking, probably in response to you repeatedly harping on the fact he had read that PM. He previously disclosed to everyone that your PM exchange with the guy was on another topic entirely, standing in for the guy's fake wedding. You complained when he revealed the content of that PM, and rightfully so, but now you complain when he mentions your PM communication with the spammer without explaining the content. If your point is that he never should have mentioned your PM with the porn spammer, that's fair, but it's not fair to say that he "literally alleged" you were into kiddie porn.

I agree with you though that gavinmac is a top bloke for clearing it up.

gavin certainly is, though if it wasn't him alleging it then why did gavin have to clear it up in the first place?

This forum may have a shot if/when y'all can stop behaving like five year old girls and find something to say beyond what's wrong with 440. I'll hang in but this is already getting very old.

No offense to five year old girls.

Agree, he could have kept quiet and he stuck his neck out. He can be impartial, like a mod is supposed to be. Definitely a better mod than a few...

I sometimes wonder if he's really a lawyer...

It's an established red top / tabloid newspaper tactic though, isn't it - use a punchy headline or pun to create an impression even if the following story doesn't actually substantiate or refer back to the original statement.

Don't know if this was the intention and don't know KIR beyond reading his rather pungent ramblings in the other place but I recall taking a sharp intake of breath on first reading...not sure I'd be the only browser who would have been left with an indelibly bad impression though did go back and review the whole post again...but maybe not everyone bothered.
