Ebola in Scotland

Post by EdinWigan »

Doctors in Glasgow are investigating a possible case of Ebola in a person who has recently returned from West Africa.

The Scottish government confirmed the case being investigated was at Glasgow's Gartnavel Hospital.

Does this mean that Ebola is now resistant to alcohol then?

A good excuse for a large quantity of disinfectant to be thrown over Glasgow. African countries will soon be sending aid to that third world hell hole.

I hear that the person who brought it in is now in isolation, or "sober" as its known in Scotland.

Harsh. Glasgow actually has more culture than your fetid undergarments! :D What part of Scotland are you from? Could be almost anywhere, as they are all jealous of Glaswegians!

Former Euro city of culture. Just hosted the Commonwealth games.

And where I currently reside, was where many Australians originated from.

Botany is an area of the Maryhill district in the Northwest of the city of Glasgow, Scotland. One explanation for the name of the area that it was viewed as a rougher part of the then village of Maryhill, with many rough and tumble lodging houses and public houses, and many of its residents were expected to be deported to Botany Bay in Australia, then acting as a penal colony. However a more prosaic explanation is that there was a school in the area known as the Botany School, now long closed, but the name survived

European capital of culture. Hmmmm so was liverpool. Enough said.
Commonwealth games. So has Edinburgh. Twice.
Glasgow has the lowest life expectancy in Britain.
Highest level of crime in Scotland.
Highest levels of (self) unemployment, sickness benefit claimants and (alleged) long term sickness.
Rab C Nesbitt was not a fictional character but is a typical Glaswegian.
Glasgow. World capital of narrow minded sectarianism since 1888.

You sound very hard to please! :D

Liverpool - Why not? And compared to who?
Edinb who? ;)
Glasgow life expectancy - The west of Glasgow has the same expectancy as the best areas in the UK.
Unemployment etc - agreed. It's totally out of order.
Sectarianism - yes. But is that not due to high levels of immigration?

Sectarianism was indeed caused by immigration. Large numbers of Irish immigrants in the late 1800's.
Life expectancy. You are basically saying that Bearsden represents 'average Glasgow'.
