Durian

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. I don't know anyone personally, how would a disreputable seller cheat you. Hell, you can tell by the smell.

Find the places selling durian where you can't drive on the road because it's blocked by all the SUVs parked in the middle of the road. Buy there.

hahahaha. well, I am after the seller that do have the real Manthong variety of Durian.
Been to few street stalls, claimed that their durian are Manthong but were not.
I'd rather go to the reliable store.

You mean this Durian here ? I'm not sure we have many durian specialists on the forum, but good luck. Let us know when you find something good, and where you bought it.

I don't think most local sellers even know the variety they sell. What locals care about is its provenance : Kampot or Kompong Chan is good, Thai stuff isn't. Many sellers relabel Thai imports as Kampot/KC durian. I've never heard anyone talking about the variety.

Thailand cultivate 5 types of Durian including the Mon Thong Durian (Mon Thong is a Thai word),
i cant see there being much difference between the Thai version and the Khmer version...
this is a Thai หมอนทอง Mon Thong (meaning "Golden Pillow" in Thai)
