DUI Checkpoints in Phnom Penh. Drink n Drive Carefully!

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

It's a bit of a joke, because, iirc, the law allows for a fine of TWO DOLLARS if caught.

Yeah, we're all so lucky living here not having to wear helmets, and being able to drink and drive.

no, 2 people of the *43* without helmets were drunk. They omit to tell us the MOST important stats. Of the whole 1400 how many were drunk? I mean two drunks on bikes with no helmet, well, likely they will self correct this behavior in one way or another. Darwin award style.

CEOCambodiaNews wrote:Police in Phnom Penh set up road blocks on street 598. Within a span of an hour and a half they managed to check almost 1,400 vehicles, including cars and motorbikes.

Of the 1,342 motorbikes they stopped, 43 people were not wearing helmets.

And of the 43 they breathalyzed, only 2 were found dui class.

They had experts helping them, including the foreigner in the picture.

If you're going to drink and drive, please be careful. And for God's sake, wear a helmet!

yes, he seems to be pretty pleased with himself. I bet he reports back home on what all he has accomplished in the third world. Mama schould be proud of him. Cambodia wouldn't have done it withoht him.
