Drugs in Cambodia

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Re: Drugs in Cambodia

I'm no angel when it comes to drugs, but it's just stupid in the strongest sense of 'stupid' to do powders and pills in a third world country, especially one as corrupt and criminal and this one, (and so near China.) And trying to justify it by claiming that saying it's stupid is the same as pushing some unrealistic abstinence policy, or that "everybody does it," or "people will do it anyway," is disengenuous. That attitude is, IMO, probably often an attempt to justify one's own decision to use dubious pills and powders in a third world country. Sure, some people will do it anyway, and it is probably a good idea to give them info about how to minimize the risk of their irresponsible behavior, but the first thing that should be said is that it is stupid to do pills and powders in a third world country and to list the reasons why. Though it may not seem so to the drug user, there are plenty of sensible people out there, even young people, who are able to make good decisions based on reason.

Unless you know someone with real good connections, I'd say be real careful with anything stronger than happy pizza, and stay far away from the tuktuks.

I haven't had mushrooms in a very long time, but don't know if anyone does mushroom shakes in PP. Seems more of a SR/Sihanoukville thing?

They don't even have mushroom shakes here in Bali any longer. Bummer. That was one of the main attractions.

Really? Try in Poppies Lane I in Kuta, next to AP Inn. Or go to the Gilis lol. Bit of a trek for a shake tho.

Supposedly they classified them as the same as heroin last year and they all shut down. No biggie, was just surprised to not see a single mushroom bar place around. They were crazy little spots.

That's a shame. It's a lovely way to travel without even leaving the room.

It's not just in Cambodia:
Warning after toxic green fake ecstasy pills found at T in the Park
Music fans leaving the T in the Park festival have been warned that a toxic batch of fake ecstasy pills may be in circulation while police continue their inquiries into the possibly drug-related deaths of two teenagers and an alleged rape at the Perthshire event.

As the Red Hot Chili Peppers closed the festival on Sunday evening, Police Scotland warned that a number of Green Rolex-type pills had been recovered at the festival and others that may be in circulation.

In 2013, the green pills – some of which were found to contain the dangerous stimulant para-Methoxyamphetamine, known as PMA – were linked to 15 deaths across Scotland and Northern Ireland...
