Dont be a slave

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Not the type to name and shame but i will say be very caution of where you are eating out.
My buddy volunteering in one place says the kitchen smells like a rotting corpse.

bkktrapper, you sound bitter.

If you had ensured you had enough money you would not have to work doing shitty jobs. Most people work hard at home to save enough to travel and return home.

Also, i know of some bars in Snookie which give free Alcohol, food, drinks, in return for bar work. Some love it, some don't, but you make your choice. BTW, most travellers do these jobs for meeting people and not eating into their travel money. They don't do those jobs because they have no money; If you have no money, go home and make some more.

Also, find out which are the best restaurants and stick to them. No one can comment on kitchens unless they inspect them, in Cambodia or anywhere else.

Had a good chat with a bar owner in victory hill who despises free workers and tells me that they are fucking it up for real expats who actually need money to survive , he says ten a day is the minimum and i agree.

You obviously weren't happy from day 1,in hindsight, but it was some rich pricks fault, not yours?
And now you are whinging about it?
The old saying is "Once bitten, twice shy".
Apparently, you are a slow learner.
Stick to whatever it is you do, do it well, as well as you can, OWN IT!
If in the long run you aren't happy, then have the balls to say "FUKOFF" and leave.
But don't accept a job offer and afterwards say the terms weren't to your liking. It was YOUR choice unless someone twisted your arm or held a gun against your head.
Are you a owner of a bar ?

Evil, Evil, Evil. Pure Evil. But they manage to keep their businesses open and make cash while handing out a good sob-story. If you work for them enough, you will soon see through their bullshit though. Lucky there are no chimneys around, because they would have kids up them for sure.
I can name a few in Otres...

Here's one for all the free-workers in Otres. (Well most of them anyway, some of them deserve it).

Well actually i remember people i met in Victory who were getting some money, plus free food and drink, and a room-or something like that.

BUT, Cambodia is a screwed up poor Country, so to even get a job like that means that either you're doing it for fun-or you've extremely screwed up your spending money by badly managing it.

If you think you can 'work around Asia', then you can if you're thinking about getting a TEFL and teaching English, otherwise forget it, unless you're one of those computer savvy people who can travel and work 'online', making a really good wage.

Other than that, you're wasting your time.
