dont need visa for Cambodia
FYI:
we had to drive up to Aranyaprathet to get a photo for my gf Thai WP , so rather than stay in Thailand we thought, lets see if we can cross ( without going thru immigration) and stay with her Aunt in Poi pet.
Monday afternoon, parked the car and just joined the many people walking across, had a nice dinner and slept at their house and walked back across the next day. NO questions from anyone,
So for anyone worrying about getting out of Cambodia, don't... Of course if you didn't have a current thai visa ,you might get in trouble down the line.

Brass cajones my man.
Still, if it's good enough for Yingluck...
Weren't you at all worried that if you got stopped on the way back into Thailand they could get you for an illegal exit? That is deportation and a ban. Doesn't matter if you had a valid entry stamp. You committed a crime when you left without getting an exit stamp. Locals can do that by convention, but you? You they could put in a jail cell and send you all the way back to the country on your passport with a prohibition on returning.
Not something I would ever have the courage to try just for fun, but I admire you for having the courage to do it. You could probably talk/buy your way out of any jam, but still...

Yeah I don't see the point of doing that. You saved what, five minutes at the crossing? Locals who like by the border do it all the time, but it seems a rather foolish thing to "try out".

Re: dont need visa for Cambodia
A few years back myself and 2 full cars of soon to be Khmer relatives including some policemen uncles, one of whom was close friend with a local deputy, entered Thailand through a non international border post west of Battabang for half a day shopping at the local big C mini mall 30km inland without anyone needing to step off the cars nor present ID. Any question I had regarding my visible western status were quickly disregarded, the only requirement was for all guns to be left at the friend's house before proceeding
Fortunately nothing happened but Sa Kaeo local roads anarchy on top of my uncles first Thailand left driving experience had me wonder what a mess any traffic accident could prove to be.

same on the Laos border.
I know of someone who escaped a significant overstay fee by heading to Vientiane informally.
cost him a $400 "fine" by crossing the river just above the falls near where a member of this forum formerly lived.

I guess that's okay... if you're absolutely positive you will never want to come back.
You could be next.

wasn't a question of saving time or $Bitte_Kein_Lexus wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2017 11:25 pm Yeah I don't see the point of doing that. You saved what, five minutes at the crossing? Locals who like by the border do it all the time, but it seems a rather foolish thing to "try out".
Khmers get a border pass ( cost around $10) so they can go back and forth.
Point i was making in my post, is it is is not a very tightly controlled border.
