Indian embassy to hold blood drive on Saturday
The Indian embassy in Cambodia will hold a blood drive in Phnom Penh with hopes that Cambodians, Indians and other foreign nationals will unite to help save lives in the name of Mahatma Gandhi.

It is scheduled to be held on the embassy’s premises in Daun Penh district from 8am to 4pm on Saturday to mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The drive is part of the Indian embassy’s humanitarian programme.

“The embassy of India is hopeful that the organisation of such blood donation programme will increase awareness in the larger public in Cambodia and encourage them to regularly donate blood to save lives and serve humanity,” the embassy said.

It noted that the National Blood Transfusion Centre, which is the biggest blood collection and distribution centre in Cambodia, and the Indian Association Cambodia, an active association of Indians living in the Kingdom, will assist the Indian Embassy on Saturday.

It said all essential equipment and trained paramedics and technical staff for blood collection will be brought and placed at the embassy by NBTC.

“Donors will be undergoing the necessary blood and health check-ups before the blood donation,” the embassy said. “Refreshments will be provided by the National Blood Transfusion Centre and the embassy in appreciation.”

“The Indian embassy in Cambodia makes a fervent appeal to Indians, Cambodians and nationals of other countries, who are healthy and able-bodied, to come forward and donate blood for the humanitarian cause,” it added.
