For difficult to pronounce words she often uses a word description instead of the word. Happens more often when she’s in a rush.

She also likes to use generic words when she’s in a rush. Badge is one of her ‘go to’ words. Can mean purse, wallet, sling, backpack, suitcase, pocket, etc.

She also likes to use the word ‘Now’ at the end of her sentences. Could mean immediately, soon, later on, or sometime today.

Her english is so soft and cute that sometimes I pretend not to understand just so she can repeat herself a few times.

With one girl:

When she wanted to say "friend," she said "my friend."

When she wanted to say "my friend," she said "my friend me."

When she wanted to say "your friend," she said "my friend you."

It was funny listening to a conversation with a lot of "my friend me" and "my friend you."

haha ive always found this khmer/english grammar confusion cutely amusing lol

Our godson has an English father and a Khmer mother. She learned English by watching American TV series, especially The Walking Dead.

On learning what country you come from, she asks how you deal with zombie outbreaks in your country - and is serious. When she asked us this, I looked at him, who was holding a straight face, and told him he's an utter bastard.

She's also good with economy of words - in the middle of a meal, "I need to piss." And on certain days, "What TF you lookin' at?"

I remember being distant after getting home from work one night. The wife noticed & hits me pretty much straight away with a "Who took the jam outta your doughnut?" (having seen Snatch a few weeks beforehand); and nailed it in a cockney accent.
