By using facebook you are turning yourself and your family into a product for facebook to sell to its advertisers. Every bit of information they can glean from you is the product that facebook is selling (or just being hacked for).
Your parents could have just emailed you and your wife the photos, enabling you to share their joy without making decisions on your children's behalf about what aspects of their lives are being traded on by data hungry corporations. Just my 2c.

Don't really mind advertisements, and it is the price we pay for the convenience of using the FB platform. Sure, I suppose if I wanted to check up on a friend of mine I could email them and ask to exchange photos.....nah, I'll just open their FB page.

I am on the other side of it as well, I use Facebook business manager for advertising some content and products.

Here's another weird coincidence.

I went to cambo quick and paid a $250 deposit for a product from amazon.com

A few hours later I get a spam email from a fake amazon email account with an invoice for exactly the same amount, saying thank you for your order. The product was different.

I know cambo quick is legit but I wonder how my email address got on a spammer's list. Maybe cambo quick has some kind of bot or virus that they don't know about on their computers fishing the info.

Did you eat the bag of chips in front of your windows 10 device or ios/android device?

Did you discuss or buy those chips while holding your mobile device within listening range?

Google and Cortana are listening.

Facebook retargeting by Visa is not the likely case, unless they have a superfast
ad team who can sell your purchase details within minutes. Even then, the chip
manufacturer would have to place ads to target you based on that information.

Unlikely to happen in 24 hours. Maybe 3 days at the soonest.

anybody who really wants privacy should never associate with the big media social forums:
there are many smaller social networks on the gnu fediverse

Then dump windows, mac, google, use linux on your computer
a vpn will help to evade censorship but not privacy

TOR browser will help to evade trackers hacks and spies.
Search engines like DuckDuckgo.com
Browsers like Brave.
Using "https everywhere" see the EFF site

and a lot of tweaking
