Does Cambodia secretly deport Western overstayers to Thailand without telling the Thais about the overstay?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Speculative shit? The story is true, I was joking that the multiple people I heard it from are totally unreliable. This site is full of news stories about overstayers being arrested, complete with names and photos. I don't recall those stories offending you. Yet when I post about a guy who got arrested but has not been featured in the news, and I even leave out his name, it's a condescending "shit topic" that's beneath discussion on CEO?
He also did not get any sort of 'deported' stamp on his passport and is now in Manila.
There is no way he paid his overstay costs - he didn't have 2 100 riel notes to rub together.
Didn't you publish his book? Great advertisement for you if your author doesn't have your support and couldn't even earn 200 Riel.
Yup we published his book, and Bob did well out of it. However, our services do not extend to holding an author's hand or making sure they remember to renew their visa.

What a silly comment- He’s his publisher, not his financial advisor.

how did he end up down and out in Kampot??

I don't know him, but he posted a video on Facebook today which made me think "Oh, he's a crazy person."
He's been a fixture in Kampot for years. Anyhow, Good Luck Bob, I wish you well.

Did you at least bring him some essentials in his time of need?

That's one way to look at it; he squandered his fortune. The other way is to say he has jack shit income, which doesn't say much for his publisher or book sales. When your publisher cannot even get three likes on their twitter feed, you should know you didn't choose wisely.

1. Yes, I made sure he got cigarettes and some other essentials delivered.

2. I rarely use Twitter but have no idea what you mean re 3 likes? Even with the rare tweets, there is something like 90 followers iirc.

We are hardly Penguin or MacMillan. Small independent publishers. The problem with Bob's book was that it was the 2nd edition and he'd already garnered his primary sales. We just put out the print version for Cambodia. Bob did well out of it: I'm the one left with a few boxes to shift (anyone want a copy at $5? ;) )

I’m not down and out and definitely got the passport scrutiny when trying to leave Thailand - in and out visa stamp checks - both Thai and Cambodian, and in addition to my flight reservation to Cambodia, had to show proof of room reservation in Cambodia, and proof of onward flight out of the country.

If you’ll reserve me a copy of that book I can pay you and pick it up next month when I return.

Might need some words on print to dull the eyes in case I’m too exhausted to sleep at night.

Where did you have to show room reservation in Cambodia? At the airport in Thailand? That's interesting.

Forced into retirement following a shoot-out with a notorious gang-boss on the Marseille waterfront, former French detective Andre Velon has settled in a peaceful riverside town in Cambodia. His exotic idyll ends when he is blackmailed by a French intelligence officer into investigating the murder of a young female tourist, sending him on a journey in which he must face his past and overcome the demons in his own mind. :please:
