Is the place even open anymore? I was down that street recently and I think it might have closed up.MekongMouse wrote:I've always thought they were a good bargain and the family running it is so nice! Would recommend.General Mackevili wrote:O.K. Guesthouse on street 258 has/had private fan rooms with bathroom for $6 earlier this year. They still might.
Wi-Fi varies per room.

I assume it's still open. I was just Facebook chatting with the 20-something year old chick that runs it earlier today.John Bingham wrote:Is the place even open anymore? Her mom used to tell me how fat I was every time I saw her, until I laid into her one day and used English and Khmer to say, "My God you look fucking old now! Your face is looking older than Angkor Wat! Holy shit! You must be over 100 years old now! Every time I see you you look many years older! How do you make yourself look so old.....?"
2 motodops dropped dead laughing.
Now she tells me how hansum I am when I see her and I return the bullshit compliments.

Re: Does anyone know any guesthouse here for $5?
I stayed at the ok guesthouse for a few months a number years ago when I was in between apartments. Not a bad place. I remember a friend of mine set a desk top pc up in his room there. They didn't have Wi-Fi back then but we're nice enough to run a network cable to the room.
Best bit was the booklet that I used to write my bill in got water damaged from a leak in the roof right near the end of the month. Saved me a fair bit.
Did end up getting told to leave though because my fucking whore ex tried to overdose there because I was out playing poker and she had "issues".

Re: Does anyone know any guesthouse here for $5?
Just walk south from the Capital Guesthouse. There are plenty of Guesthouses in that range - USD 5 would be the cheapest for a fan room but no window. Several places offer decent double rooms for 6-7 USD of course with windows. Aircon around 10. Often you will have to go up 3-5 floors. The Green Guesthouse has a good room, fan, for 7USD and an elevator. All places I know accept reservations.
Most places are also guest-friendly as the rooms are anyhow double rooms. No hot water of course but the places are clean and in the heat - who needs hot water?
The area is pretty central and easy to walk almost anywhere.
