Direct Flights from Phnom Penh, Cambodia to Narita, Japan
Will anyone here use this new flight that's just started? Seems direct flights to/from Cambodia are really starting to pick up these days.
PHNOM PENH - Asia Atlantic Airlines began a direct flight between Narita and Phnom Penh on Monday.
Cambodian Tourism Minister Thong Khon told Kyodo News the flight from Narita landed at Phnom Penh International Airport at 2 pm Monday, the first direct flight from Narita, using a Boeing 767-300ER.
The minister said the same airline plans to begin another direct flight from Narita to Siem Reap, the home of the Angkor temple complex, soon.
Thong Khon earlier said Asia Atlantic Airlines had planned three flights per week from Narita to Phnom Penh and four flights a week to Siem Reap, but that schedule may change.
According to government's statistics, 200,600 Japanese tourists visited Cambodia last year, an increase of 15% from the previous year.
In seven months this year, 121,679 Japanese visited, an increase of 11.7% from the same period last year.
Thong Khon said that before the advent of a direct flight from Narita, Japanese tourists visiting Cambodia had to go via South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam or China.
The minister said other Japanese airlines, including majors All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines, are.....

Re: Direct Flights from Phnom Penh, Cambodia to Narita, Japa
Sometimes I would just as soon fly into PP as Bkk. ONE year the price was the same. Lately I been looking at 1600 minimum (while Bkk was more like 1400) but really more like $2000. I'm toying with the idea of trying Singapore as a hub. Usually come into Narita from Atlanta or Dallas.
IF, and this is a BIG if, the fare into PP were around 1500 I could dawdle in Cambo for a bit then hop an AA flight into Bangkok n get my month "permission to stay and spend all my money". Lately I'd rather spend the bulk of my time in Cambo.
