Did I just buy a Rembrandt.

Post by Tootsfriend »

Aparantly not. Would have been better to buy a lotto ticket.
The painting looked old and the ejai said, yes he is a famous painter so I handed over the 20,000, thinking I will put it up for auction at the next Sotherby auction in Cambodia and make millions.

Could you take a better pic of it, so we can see it all ?

You might want to get a bit of aceton, so you can clean it up, with a piece of cotton (if this is an oil painting).

It looks nice from here, i've seen way worse.

It's just a worn-out one of those cookie cutter paintings like they sell on 178.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

I need to be able to boast to the world that investing in paintings is a good idea, and that I doubled my 20,000 investment by selling it for 40,000. Come on Bongmab69, 40,000 and it's yours.

For 40.000 (10$) i'd buy it.
Unfortunately the shipping costs won't help.

Can you take a better picture of it, frontside, same height, and arrange the luminosity ?
The colors look very right to me, no faulty taste there.
The drawing seems good too. No weird stuff, no strange size ratios, could be a copy of a famous painting, or just a repro from a photography, i don't know. But it looks fine to me.

I saw a good one street 178 for a while, then i was late to buy it, and now i regret it. Couldn't have been an unauthentified masterpiece, but it was just right.

Now that i think about it, it's even better made than the vast majority of tourist shops art that i browsed in Indonesia and Vietnam for a long while, which is weird comparing the means and size of population of these 3 countries. The sky and trees especially are neat, unlike the wooden house on the lower section, but a better shot would give a better look at it ^^

As for the artist, you could check his fame on the online version of the Benezit, which is originally a dictionary of world painters.
