Dealing with trolls

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

So, you troll, to troll the people you consider trolls. Wouldn’t it just be easier to delete CEO from your bookmarks? Seems a lot easier to me.
I hope I’m on your block list
Like is said “Trollception” that’s trademarked by the way.
up to you...

If my local pub was welcoming obnoxious characters I would find a new pub.

What you say is totally true but posting replies to me in an attempt to berate me makes these people feel smug and superior and validates their otherwise pointless lives. I can guarantee you that none of them would have the courage to block me

a simple solution they wont accept is bring back the down button

let the users take more control from the mods.

Admins and mods do not read each and every thread so offensive posts often go unnoticed.
Trolls love to provoke people to anger and when you respond you are giving them exactly what they want.

Trolls destroy forums so you need to do your part to preserve the forum as an enjoyable place.
OP reminder to members to come forward and report posts that you consider trolling. The mods can't be reading every single post, but all reports are looked at and reviewed.
As for PR's idea of restoring the down/dislike button, from memory that was removed because it created more problems than it solved.

Trolls destroy forums
There is an example on another forum that started with all the advantages but still continues the troll spiral.
People just invisibly leave / stop posting / stop visiting.

Too nonsensical and juvenile.

That kind of shit alienates the good and attracts the bad.
