Dealing with confronting stuff

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

C'me on I don't deem that was really necessary ... I mean the man already had a wooden stick, what would you have done , handed him an iron rod ? I think he was doing well already :beer3:

The last time I saw something similar it was actually a man being beaten by a woman. She broke a glass of something on his head. A small piece of it landed in my eye. I went autopilot and stepped between calmly sipping my drink and explaining that he had enough. It ended with that.

Probably could've landed me in a pile of trouble. Frankly that's not really what I'm concerned about. I personally get blinded and act on my instinct to defend the person in danger. My instincts allow little room for rationality, maybe I'll be on the pavement for my actions one day. I think that's something that anybody who is stepping in must be prepared for.

This is the sort of thing where not stepping in is the same as approving of it. Of course the locals didn't do anything, they love this shit!
If you're willing to let this bullshit happen to another human being without even attempting to do something about it, you are in no
position to complain once you're on the receiving end of the violence and nobody aids you.

This mentality of "it's not my country" is just pure and undiluted idiocy. SO FUCKING WHAT IF IT ISN'T YOUR COUNTRY? We're one people
and injustice is injustice wherever it happens.
I am interested to hear the story about the time you stepped in and intervened, Jacket.
I'll give ya 500 Riel for it...

There were rocks, sticks, nails, barbed wire etc all over the building site they live in. We would have been stoned long before we reached his weapon.
Once you've read the dictionary, every other book is just a remix.

You're right; Getting stoned first is maybe not a good idea.

It's a personal thing; I have problems getting confrontational when I'm stoned. :D
