You mean in real life? No. Yes to all if you mean on video.takeoman wrote:

I pulled an air rifle out on someone who entered my property (front yard) once. I didn't have to shoot, they left.
I don't understand how it's difficult to see that a gun is a MAJOR deterrent for others, whether they're armed or not.
And please remember that I've never claimed that they're aren't any negative factors of the public having guns.
I'm also glad that I didn't have a gun on me once when I was robbed at gun point, otherwise that would have been stolen too, LoL.

Guns are no deterrent to jihadis equipped not just with automatic weapons, but suicide vests. They intend to die, taking as many as possible with them one way or another. Untrained civilians engaging in a fire fight is just as liable to increase the casualties as limit them, especially in crowded public areas.General Mackevili wrote:You mean in real life? ^^ Are you suggesting that we can rid the world of jihadis AND americans both at the same time , yet with some collateral damage thrown in?
Sounds like a win-win to me (except for the collateral damage).

Haha, exactly, and they will continue to target places where people are UNARMED (when using guns themselves).takeoman wrote:They intend to die, taking as many as possible with them one way or another.
To agree that they want to take as many lives as possible, but not think that they would naturally prefer to target places where people don't have guns is completely illogical to me.
Simple as that.

Ah, another gun-free "state." Shocking. I bet they're disappointed that citizens there don't have guns, because according to you, if they did, it would INCREASE their kill numbers, right?takeoman wrote:

I really can't see any logic in that. I have a strong feeling it's because there is none.

Great list.Tits Mcgee wrote: In the broader question "has an Amercian citizen (not cop) carrying a gun in public prevented or stopped mass shootings?"...here is an article noting 10 recent examples. The answer is YES, they have.

Again, to not see how people armed could stop/deter a mass shooter is illogical to me.
I'm done. Gotta get packed for Egypt, LoL.

You really do seem to be unable to grasp, rather like your government, what is being dealt with here. These are not what you refer to as mass shooters, they are armed suicide bombers, your weapons will not deter them, and if you miss the head shot that you need to make you merely save them the trouble of detonating the vest themselves. If this happens in a crowded or confined space the resultant blast will kill and injure more than any shots fired, especially if, as is common, the vest is packed with either nails or ball bearings. Intelligence not firepower is what stops the terrorist before he can strike.

LoL, you make it seem as if I argued any of this.takeoman wrote:If this happens in a crowded or confined space the resultant blast will kill and injure more than any shots fired, especially if, as is common, the vest is packed with either nails or ball bearings. Again, you appear to be one that's so brainwashed about guns that you truly believe guns are ALWAYS 100% BAD all of the time and have no effectiveness whatsoever no matter what.
And yes, if they have a gun and are trying to shoot dead as many people as they can, then they are a mass shooter. Blowing themselves up is just the icing on the cake.
At least we agree that these killers are after the highest number of dead they can get.
Ok fine, let's just agree with you....
Mass shooters would have much higher kill numbers if they targeted armed groups of people, but because they have been in contact with guns so much the stupidness has worn off on them and they are unable to find these armed civilians and go after unarmed civilians instead, which obviously reduces their kill numbers.

Now your trying the very old and cliched politicians trick of misquoting me. I have never said they would have higher kill numbers if they targeted armed groups, but pointed out that amateurs blazing away was as liable to cost lives as save them. I asked you the first two questions as your gung-ho in the US we have guns so the casualties would be less comment could only have come from someone who has never experienced such situations first hand.General Mackevili wrote:LoL, you make it seem as if I argued any of this.takeoman wrote:If this happens in a crowded or confined space the resultant blast will kill and injure more than any shots fired, especially if, as is common, the vest is packed with either nails or ball bearings. Question: Do armed citizens deter terrorists ?
Answer: It may possibly deter them from using guns; in which case they will use other means, such as suicide planes: even more effective in terms of numbers of civilians killed, not to mention the shock & awe factor.
In other words, no.
