I'm Dating a Cambodian Woman in France - Gold Digger or No?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I am not trolling, but I think she manipulate me a lot and now I need to clarify my mind !

I dont tell I accept, I tell you full story

I would add that a sworn interpreter discuss with me and her, in khmer ! And she thinks she loves me and is a combodian 100%.
This man is also doctor of law.

I think she manipulate everyone very nicely
If she wants to remain Cambodian for 100% she can not spend her life with you - it's that simple, unless you want to live by Cambodian rules too. Run and don't look back. A woman that won't compromise will play the 'different culture' card a million times, look for someone else and let her have her life the Cambodian way.

it seems you have quite a few lessons to learn before you will be able to do that, not recommended at this stage.

Cambodian women age like shit and they are usually poor. It's just as easy to love a rich girl as a poor girl so you should find yourself a good Chinese girl and then when China eventually rules the world, you'll be set.

It doesn't look good.
When is that marriage supposed to take place?
I wouldn't get involved in such a selfish woman. It's obvious her relatives will always be more important to her than your future as a couple.

Should you proceed nevertheless sign a prenup (contrat de mariage). That's the best advice anybody can give you in that case. Do it now, it has to be before the marriage. If she doesn't agree, cancel it, cut your losses and walk away.

Why look abroad, there are plenty of Cambodian in France and many of them grew in France which will be more convenient from a communication and cultural point of view.

I don't know for Lyon but in Paris they often organise open events for major khmer celebrations (new year, tomb sweeping...) you could make many friends there.

There are also associations to learn khmer culture/language where you could meet many second or third generation Khmer wanting to know more about their countries, plus you will also learn more about the Khmer culture and language (can come in handy if you are hell bent on marrying a Cambodian).

^ this x 1,000,000

I made the mistake of marrying someone who ended up wanting everything done the Cambodian way. Wouldn’t even travel back to nz for a holiday. Marriage ended after a few years.

If there is no compromise by both parties the marriage will not work. It really is that simple.
