This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Dangerously Overloaded Truck Freaks Out Cambodian Road Users

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Sihanoukville, Cambodia News: On 3 February 2019, an alarmed driver on the national road 4 between Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh reported the sighting of a seriously overloaded truck on social media.
Let us hope that this has brought the truck to the attention of the authorities. There are regular announcements that police are cracking down on overloaded trucks on the Cambodian roads, but somehow their attention span on the subject is always short-lived.

It's Chinese New Year on Tuesday, so we can expect more overloaded vehicles like this one on the roads this weekend.

I traveled in one minivan, and it was so crowded, the drivers assistant sat on the roof.

That is after people sitting on the console next to the drivers seat, and someone sitting between the driver and the door.

Kinda depends on the weight of the load. That’s high and if it were Drywall a no go but if it’s lightweight metal frames well strapped down I don’t see the problem. I’ve seen much much worse.

The car is only full when the driver is forced to share his seat with some granny. In all other occasions the car ain't full yet and he'll be looking for a pretty girl to share his seat with.

They looked like metal A frames for scaffolding to me. Not that light, each one maybe 20kgs. If a few fell on you or your car or moto you would be dead. Fuck these greedy cunts.
