cya

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Sorry you're wrong , I like the troll even though I don't believe his story. It's Smart Asston I can't abide.
But you got to hand it to the "troll" he's managed to get the "smart asston" to mentally crack!

Whaddya mean, "crack?"
Melvin Udall: Never, never, interrupt me, okay?

Not if there's a fire, not even if you hear the sound of a thud from my home and one week later there's a smell coming from there that can only be a decaying human body and you have to hold a hanky to your face because the stench is so thick that you think you're going to faint.

Even then, don't come knocking...Not for ANY reason.

I see...
This forum going the same downward road as TOF.
Topics going totally off the rails (although in this particular case, the OP was off the rails already), infighting, members who have their own private differences discussed on a public forum, etc., etc.

Is it really THAT difficult to run a NORMAL forum in Cambodia, and KEEP it NORMAL? It seems to be a hell of a job as I haven't seen one so far.

This one was promising, but as said: going down the drain just as TOF. Maybe it's because most of the type of expats living here, I dunno.

Right, time for the next forum candidate then.

Probably.

Maybe.

Or maybe not.

As has been mentioned many times before. I too also wonder why. It showed promise early on the devolved to what it is today. :please:

Name any forum, anywhere that doesn't exist on the threshold of abnormal. This one after all, is an anonymous internet message board focused on expat life in Cambodia. What exactly are you expecting, or rather, what would make it 'normal'?

Feedback always appreciated, and guaranteed to be taken into consideration...

Well, I assume you feel more strongly about this at precise moment, as we've just been graced with possibly the nuttiest of the nutters going on and on about renouncing his citizenship, and other suspiciously trollish ideas...

That said, I couldn't agree more with you on the "members who have their own private differences discussed on a public forum" comment. It's not something we want here, and we generally get it dismantled before it gets too out of control, but we'll take your feedback and really take a harder stance, and you are right that NOBODY wants to read in-house bickering.

We try very hard to make sure CEO is a place to discuss almost everything, and while we are against censorship, we do need to be even more proactive to get rid of the petty "infighting" you've pointed out. A forum is just not a place for it, and if people have personal issues with another, they should handle it in a different manner.

Another member was kind enough to express their specific issues today, and we've already been talking about that feedback behind the scenes. Always feel encouraged to send us detailed complaints, as I'd assume most people who raise them with us see that we do address issues as best we can, but we need details. One of the best ways it to report a post you think CEO is better off without, and let us know you exact thoughts.

Bottom line is that we've been growing exponentially over the last several months, and I know that we need to be even more on the ball with these in-house feuds that will get out of control if we don't handle them as quickly as they appear. Maybe we need to bring on another mod to the team? Hmmmm... Who can do an often thankless job for our community that we should all be very proud of?...

And not to get too caught up in your exact choice of words, but a NORMAL forum would be my worst fucking nightmare ever! There's millions of Facebook groups (many of which I'm a huge fan of) out there, but not only do they have their own, often censorship-heavy rules themselves, but everything also has to pass Facebook's million-and-one rules. They can have their normal groups, but I prefer us having CEO be as free as we want to talk about fucked up things that Facebook would never allow, so here we are. That doesn't change the fact that NOBODY wants to read the in-house fighting you describe. Hell, even banter is fine, but I think we can all agree that we don't need this site turning into The Old Forum, or as you say, somebody can and will come along and provide a better platform where people prefer to bring their discussions and opinions.

So, thanks for that, and while I think we have really been on a roll lately (THANKS TO EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU), we absolutely need to stay on top of the issue you bring up.

And again, feel encouraged to send us specific feedback, even with names, as we don't ever end up publicly mocking people who send us constructive feedback, as it really helps us stay on top of things that we might not otherwise be aware of needs addressing.

General Mackevili and I have had our differences, but he's supremely more qualified in terms of personality to run a forum than both those arseholes who owned 440 before, the latter being the worst.

The present 440 owner seems to be a vast improvement.

You will get this shite on any forum worldwide, except perhaps heavyvaliumusers.com
