Customs DIDN'T steal gifts in post Phnom Penh

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

The package weight would let you know if the package was shipped with metal or plastic watches. If the weight matches the shipped weight then there was no tampering/theft

The only watch I want to see regarding Kissinger is deathwatch.

The whisky is in the cupboard ready for the schmuck war-criminal's passing.

@OP, is it possible the family sold the expensive watches? Not being cynical, but if they are so poor, rather buy them clothes, food etc. or pay for education.
They can't eat a flashy watch, and poor people here don't really have the western hang-up about time.

Oops. Now that I think about it; don't send the Kissinger watches! Such high quality bling will definitely not reach the recipient.

Fun fact:

Richard (tricky Dick) Nixon and I (can't see my own Dick) share the same birth-city. Oops. I outed myself again!

Really? I must have received in excess of 200 packages in Cambodia. The only one that got lost got lost in the UK.

To be fair, if your family hasn't yet collected them, you have no proof customs or post staff have nicked them. A good start might be having someone collect the parcel.

These watches start at around $30, consider it a cheap lesson.

Maybe it was revenge for the carpet-bombing.

I see they also make plastic watches...perhaps you should have the parcel collected and then take it from there?

They are obviously scamming him. No need to collect the parcel with such an obvious scam. Let them keep the parcel, that'll learn em.
