No legal right. She is Cambodian, I'm British but we are not legally married (and British doesn't count for much these days in Europe).
We can produce a confirmed itinerary, flight tickets, health insurance etc and have 2 recognised jabs. So in that sense all ok.
When there's no legal right you end up in the visa lottery. A few used UK visa might support the request but basically you're at the mercy of the embassy staff.
recently info ?

because my information about getting schengen tourist visa through the Germany embassy is 3 years old and was not so difficult to get it, some people with guarantor scheme and some without but more money/education
Schengen visitor visa have been on hold for nearly two years and just restarted recently so no recent info from me.
I've helped a few people in the past collecting documents and applying, none of them made it. All went through the French embassy, maybe that's the difference?

We always deal with the German embassy but we do have a legal right so no trouble there except the stupidity you gave to show the same documents over and over and over and over again.

Regarding the UK, embassies are not involved in the visa process

Dear all,
I thought I would give an update...
Today is 5 weeks since my wife lodged her application for the UK visa at VFS Global in Phnom Penh. At the time of application, it was mentioned 'can take up to 6 weeks'. I thought that might be a standard response. And two previous applications were turned around in 7-10 days.
Though it's been dragging on. A message was received after 4 weeks to say the embassy is working hard to get turnaround time back from 6 weeks to approximately 4 weeks.
We got a family friend to visit VFS Global and whilst they can't talk about a specific request she was informed that very few visas are being received currently.
Today we got a text message from VFS Global in India(!) to say that turnaround is currently 5-10 weeks due to the UK being heavily involved in humanitarian assistance for Ukrainian refugees and that takes priority. Oh, and we shouldn't book any flights....
So pretty awful service all round.
A friend applied for a Schengen visa in the meantime and received it in 2 days...
Britannia, rule the waves...

Only IMHO, the UK is going through many changes, they don't happen often, other than 'home delivery food services' most systems are taking (much)time to adapt. Almost everything from renewing a passport to receiving a tax rebate... or even seeing a doctor.... is now a delayed to a point in time so uncertain they can only give the most pessimistic expectations.

The UK are very strict in giving visa's to Cambodians.

I would be very interested how things work out. I have pretty much given up on any such ideas based on the experiences of others I know who have tried.
Hi Doc,
Wife and daughter got the UK visa. It took a whopping 6 weeks and 1 day to be received. Nothing to do with VFS...it was all delays on UK side.
Fortunately, no problems except the waiting time. They've visited twice before but you never know what the embassy might decide.

Congratulations mate, pleased for you. 6 Weeks doesn't sound too bad, my driving licence took 2 weeks just for a change of address.

Enjoy your trip!
