Ban of High-risk Business Activities and Gatherings Extended for Two More Weeks
AKP Phnom Penh, July 09, 2021 --

All high-risk occupational and business activities for COVID-19 transmission are required to continue their temporary shutdown for two more weeks, from July 10 to 23.

The extension was announced this evening in a directive by Phnom Penh municipal administration.

The prohibited occupational and business activities include public and private schools, including vocational training schools, except online classes; entertainment businesses such as karaoke, night clubs, beer gardens, and casinos; resorts, museums, and amusement parks; massage therapy businesses; and cinemas, theatres, fitness clubs and sport centres, it pointed out.

At the same time, it added, private large gatherings of 15 people and over are also temporarily banned, but with some exceptions.

As of this morning, there are in total 59,045 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Cambodia, of which 50,917 have recovered with 855 deaths registered.

Mom Kunthear | Publication date 09 July 2021 | 15:44 ICT

Preah Sihanouk provincial governor Kuoch Chamroeun decided to extend the ban on alcohol sales for another two weeks through July 22 in a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“Sales of all kinds of alcohol are banned because the Covid-19 situation in the province has not been completely brought under control,” he said in a directive.

All restaurants, drink shops and cafeterias are not allowed to serve alcoholic drinks to customers during this period. All markets, wholesalers and retailers caught violating the directive will face administrative or legal action.

Ban? What ban?

Seeing as this includes updates, I'll chuck in this article for blursday, about home and away. The world seems to think authoritarianism has incrept (add to dictionary ATD) - and covidiots (ATD) have used the "Miley Cyrus" as an opportunity to enforce otherwise undemocratic, or certainly previously criticised, restrictions under the guise of pandemicly (ATD) required. Personally, I think freedom of speech and "the public have a right to know" can cater to gossip-mongers too much, and is often errant, without accountability.
