Could it get any worse than this ?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. YEA just got back here in Pnom Penh and yes already knew and witnessed closing of walkabout. NOw GSM has changed such seems never as we used to know it. All hope seems to be gone for Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville is even worse with latest demolishing of Utopia after most all beach bars such as Dolphins,Rocky's,sessions etc so what's next big easy ? seems all hope is gone.

When I was in Sihanoukville in February the only bar was what Jamie mentioned, it was a pretty good tourist party but no khmer girls at all except some superwhores. Only some nights of the week too.
Things could be different now as the situation seemed to have hit bottom then, if you go there let us know. Check out Oscar's and the containers.

So Big Easy has shut down also along with Utopia ? If not does it still have a fair share of foreign white females ?
I liked to stay in the Korean run Sarang guesthouse downtown which was large rooms, full size refrigerator, tv high enough and on the wall where it should be rather than sitting too low on a table or counter taking up valuable desk space so i really thought it was good value at $15 but i even heard it's been bought by Chinese and converted. Is that really true ? Heard also the rain is even worse than Phnom Penh which is too wet esp this time of year beginning rainy season so i don't think i want to go to all the trouble of packing up and take a bus trip to Sihanoukville especially now.

I left in March so didn't see the new Sorya, that's my last hope in terms of PP nightlife. Damn I miss the old days. Old khmer friends who work with barangs complaining the quality of barangs has gone downhill too.
There's one good bar: Oscars on 104. Do let us know what you find.

Exactly where in the east west direction is Oscars ? HOw far east of 51 and how far west of street 13, assuming it is between those 2 north south running odd numbered streets. Have the hardest time finding anything around here even if know the street number and locals are usually no help - eg had forgotten exactly where was street 51 and happened to be right next to it and asked locals, even showed one a paper with 51 written on it along with the English approximation as it is written on street sign ' Pasteur ' and they did not even know. Also where is this containers area ?

Odd numbers run north - south, evens run east - west. Oscars 104 is between the main post office and riverside (east - west) and between the night market and Wat Phnom on St 13. Just ask a tuktuk driver to get you to the night market and walk north on 13 or riverside. You'll find it.

As above Oscar's is on 104, just tell any tuk tuk st 104 oscar's they know it.
The containers are located next to AEON mall it's quite a large entertainment area called something like JJ's containers. You can get a motodop to Aeon mall and walk back to the containers.
So what happened to Sorya Mall? Still not open ?
Tuk tuk drivers and motodops may not know how to read. Seriously.
Guesthouses in downtown Sihanoukville like Ponleu Pkay where I used to stay were all sold or rented long term to the Chinese. Prices went up in a big way, last time I was there could hardly find a fan room for 15, some nights I was paying 20. Before I was paying 10-12 for a large aircon room.

That's a different Oscar's. Oscar's the rock bar is a bar on st. 104 among the girlie bar, I think the restaurant might have stolen the name, but don't know for a fact.
