Is copying the sincerest form of flattery?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Getting to the point now, 3 or 4 weeks ago some guys showed up at my gate that I didn't know but seemed friendly etc. They asked to look at the house. I vaguely recognised one of them because another member here is using him as his architect so saw his pic before on social media. So sure, look around.

...

Your thoughts?
My thoughts? Who the hell would let "some guys" into their house to look around?

Hotdigr wrote: Sun Aug 26, 2018 9:59 pm Seriously? Is that the best whinge you could come up with? Keep your fukn first world problems to yourself mate. Its an ok looking house, but nothing all that flash compared to what you see in Torquay or Byron Bay or Noosa AND its not like you designed it yourself. Go and buy yourself an automatic watchwinder to bitch about FFS.
Can't compare a 2 million$ villa in Sandbanks to a 100.000 something house in Kep Sir. I drive a Hyundai, I'm not bragging at all. Just posting for people that are interested, if you are not, just skip.
i appreciate you posted the build, but than why get upset if someone uses some of ur ideas??
Like hotdig said, (regarding Oz) Phuket has hundreds of similar, an nicer designed pool villa places here for around $120,000...( cost- not sale)

You mean the 12 year old looking French kid who claims to be an architect? These designs?

If it is the same kid you're talking about, I remember a while back he posted several house designs which he claimed to be his own original designs, however it was quickly discovered that he had just copied them from a website and got called out on it, he quickly deleted the posts and stopped posting on the group.

It's true, it is the sincerest form of flattery. It boils my blood when my ideas get copied, but I have to remind myself that at least I have imagination, I'd hate to be the person that only has copying to rely on for their phony style!
