coping with lockdown

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. For Cowboy in Pattaya
Pattaya: "Zero" tourists - last remaining Russians have cancelled and tourism industry faces 80% closure for up to a year
He said there were now 0% tourists going to Pattaya. Up to now there had been a few remaining Russians going to the resort.

The requirements to have health certificates and 100,000 baht insurance policies have put paid to that.

He said that 80% of the tourism industry in Pattaya faces either temporary or permanent closure.
The effect of the outbreak will be felt for at least 10 to 12 months.

My apartment is well stocked and my wife is a superb cook and I was a Chef for 25 years all across the USA..
I am watching my dvd and Blu-ray collection I have schlepped to Cambodia over the past 3 years.
My apartment has a 10 meter pool and I am swimming 3-4 days a week.
Only 5 of the 7 units in my building are occupied and some people do not swim.
I am in a lockdown of sorts.. meaning I cannot book my flight back to the USA in late May to go work on my house and put it on the market for sale.
So, I will continue to bake breads and make pizza dough and enjoy my retirement in Siem Reap.
I am impressed with how my go to markets have provided sanitizers as has my bank ATM.
I was even tested for fever at the front gate of my meat purveyor Lee's frozen food yesterday.
I purchased a prime grade New Zealand ribeye, buffalo, pork and mozzarella.
I am grateful to be here with my beautiful wife instead of stuck back in the USA alone with her alone here. I made it back on January 20th after dealing with my mom's death..
I had to fly through China 6 times WHILE CHINA KNEW THEY HAD THE VIRUS IN WUHAN.
I spent 8 hours at the Shanghai airport on one trip and 8 in Guangzhou on another.
I flew back from the states through Hong Kong on the 20th of January.
So, I suspect I have already had the fucking Wuhan china virus already.
In my humble opinion the virus was in Cambodia months ago but was never tested.
I wouldn't want to be anywhere else than here with my Khmer wife.
I have 5 seasons of Peaky Blinders on blu ray and just finished another binge on season 4...
Its gonna be soooooo funny when coronavirus2 starts in the USA and we cn call it the LA american virus and watch the gingerbread man turn purple
It will only be funny to ignorant fools.
Well trump and his suppoerters will find it funny then
Ooooh...so cutting......Im devastated. If thats the best you can do, I see why the Dems will get crushed.

Oh wait, your flying the Jack, why am I even arguing with you, you guys just do what you are told. Have a great day, MAGA.
Well we can have a goog giggle together if the Republicnas get crushed, asusming Donald Trumps incompetence actually leaves any of you alive to vote

I'd think that J57 was stressing as a result of the lockdown, except that there is no lockdown in Cambodia. You can go where you please, there are no travel restrictions within the country, and the shops and restaurants are mostly open. If you decide not to go out then you are "self-isolating", but it's up to the individual to decide about going out, social distancing etc. Lockdown may or may not come later.

Most people have got the message about wearing masks to protect other people, but I must say that a lot of the population (expats and locals) don't seem to have much of a clue as to what "social distancing" means, so this is something that needs to be pushed a bit more by the authorities IMO.

We’ll see.

I live in Phnom Penh, but work in Europe. The lockdowns and lockouts have resulted in me doing soft time in a selection of hotels, and this coming weekend, heading to the UK.

Work has kept us pretty busy, so my liver doesn’t take a beating during the week, plus I hate drinking alone.

There’s an irony- we’re not allowed to socialize in groups greater than two, and must maintain minimum safe distance of 2meters. But in the air, we’re little more than a meter apart, and sharing the AC. Maybe Coronavirus is negatively impacted by engine oil fumes in the AC of our older birds?

So, to keep my mind off things, next week I shall be doing some maintenance shite around my mothers property;
- finish the summer house that I built a while back
- Service two or three cars
- catch some spring rays, top up the tan in the back garden
- continue the remote life via messenger Cam. Celebrate the little fella’s 1st birthday from the wrong continent.

The usual
If you get bored can you work out if there is enough tarmac space for every passenger aircraft in service today being grounded. It must be testing airports to the limits already.

Also, and slightly more seriously, passenger aircraft also carry cargo. What is happening to all this freight that is not getting delivered?

Must be a lot of this already.
