If you trolls would notice I said in my opinion. You don't like it, don't read it. How many of you drive just about every day on Sihanoukville's streets, I do and I've come close to being killed driving on Highway #4 a couple times by container trucks.

If the cops would do just part of their jobs and hit the crazy drivers every day with fines that hit in the pocketbook, it may help to stop some of the stupid driving. I love Snookyville, but I get a little tired dodging the crazy drivers on my way to the store, etc. I've ridden motorcycle for over 50 years and stopped riding moto here. Its not a matter of if your going to be in an accident, but when. What kind of drivers enter a street without look for oncoming traffic or run stop lights, or drive down the wrong side of the road? I see it every day.

Daily routine? If you would come out of your drug induced haze you may notice I haven't posted in a while. (Oz trip.)

Sailorman, welcome back. How was OZ? Did you do a Trip Report?

btw, I've been tracking Cambodian forums for 3 years but have recently focused on Panama. [Health Care @ 100/month incl.dental]

and COL is low.

Any comments or perspectives?

I bet I've been stopped 100 X. No search yet. The local drivers/riders are the worst I've ever seen in the 40+ counties I've been to. They'll routinely risk their lives & yours to save 3 seconds or 5 meters. I think there's a huge ignorance of traffic laws. I think CMB should make every rider pass a written test. They could give the test orally to the illiterate I suppose.

It's not really easy knowing if you'll like reading something before reading. That advice of yours to not read it wasn't so good, was it mate?

Yes the only reason why we wouldn't notice that you haven't posted in a while is because we're in drug induced coma. All about you isn't it.

The random police stops in Sihanoukville just because your a barrang wind me up,
fair enough if you do something wrong but the routine stops in the hope you haven't got a license waste my time!
in all the times i've been stopped i've only had to hand over 5000rl for having my lights on, one officer just stopped me and held out
his hand for a bribe without saying anything, just rubbing his fingers together, i just shuck the hand and took off!
not been asked about the drugs yet though... (famous last words)

That guy's a friend of mine and has been doing his thing for over 10 years now. Why would he suddenly be the cause?

The Russians aren't going crazy over pot at the moment. They're going at each other for turf. Started with the whole Kazantip debacle. Naff all to do with traffic stops.

The Kampong Saom police are going batshit crazy over drugs at the moment. Not entirely sure why. Maybe they just realised, as with this work permit thing, that they've been missing out on a revenue stream. A mate just got 7 years for dealing ice. The head-honcho has gone to ground. Not even sure he's still in the country. Everyone around Serendipity is edgy as fuck.

The Wave Festival was crawling with security and police. They outnumbered the punters.

Plain clothed police are scouring the beachfront (Serendipity) for anyone rolling joints and whatnot. They're not arresting. Just extorting cash. Hardly tackling the cause.

Be careful out there.

As I understand the law here, they must have a reason for stopping you. They can't stop you just to ask you if you've got a licence. Well, not legally

Here in Phuket, Thailand

PS;i have been lucky here in Phuket over the past 3o years BUT
Phuket Poll: Thai police lose battle in gaining trust -

PHUKET: A staggering 80% of all respondents to a Phuket Gazette poll have stated that they do not trust the Royal Thai Police – either in part or at all.

I imagine for Cambodia its higher than 80%
