Content, or lack thereof

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I wouldn't take karma as a reliable metric. A high percentage of posters use Tapatalk to interact with the forum, and this doesn't provide the karma option. Personally I find your posts to be quality and interesting.

I agree it's been kind of slow over the last days. I've checked the online papers and haven't seen much of interest either.

Also, I think a lot of people forget just how new of a website we are, and we are starting to skyrocket on Google, but it still takes longer than 4 months to rank at the top. We on the right track though.

The more random people that find CEO the better it will get. Sir Q went out of his way to start an AMA on Cambodia on Reddit. He linked to our site, and we thank him. That kind of shit needs to be done for us to get out there.

Feel free to share our site anywhere you can.

Anyways, this has been a community project since the beginning, and making money off it has never been a goal. All of us can start any topics we want. Personally, i wouldn't judge your threads based on karma, as many people have said they don't use.

Seems like most people are saying that both CEO and K440 have been slow lately. Meh, it happens.

And thanks Soi Dog for bringing this up. Seems to be quite a popular thread.

LoL, Richard just likes to complain. A hobby, if you will.

He complains that K440 is a circle jerk. Then he complains that CEO doesn't give him high-5's and pat him on the back every time he talks about Thailand.

Personally, I like Richard's posts and point of view, even though we seem to rarely agree on things. We don't turn to flaming each other when we don't agree, which is great.
Not so much complain but just stating how i see things which is not the same as many here or there.
I do not want hi 5's or complements ( recall i was the first to say drop the karma)
But if someone doesn't agree with me, Fine, tell me why, from a realistic perspective and /or links to back it up

I love discussions but hate pettiness

Forums need discussion and if that s not forth coming the loyal/interesting posters will just read an pass.

If it were up to me, but it's not, I would make the blog.php the Home page, and the current 'Articles' link would become the 'Forum' link.
I like this idea a lot, and hopefully we can do something like this.

As stated, I just got to the desert and haven't even really started. Once I do, I'll only be teaching 16 hours a week with a lot of free time and boredom to fight off. And the Dragon is partying right now for his going away drink up with CEO T-SHIRTS! So he'll be busy for a while, LoL. Transitions abound.

That said, we've been talking about some of these changes already just haven't done them. Some really good ideas from fellow members who sent their ideas privately. We debate them all.

And CEO is a platform. It's a discussion forum about Cambodia that's ran by 2 easy going guys that have no hidden agenda at all and are very approachable. Some would go as far as to call us "fair," LoL.

I agree. Forums need discussions - not single, careless, isolated statements and no monologues. Interaction would be required, but that's difficult to achieve.

Thanks for the feedback. I've really got no idea how things come across so it's nice to hear that.

Exactly THAT ! Difficult times, and it will get worse I think. It's not the year 2002 anymore.

And please, please, please, NO restaurant reviews. That is sooooooooooo boring, sooooooo booooooooring.
NOW THIS should be a thread dammit. HOW has it changed? what ways...etc.

I'm with him on the resto reviews, except as I'm that way, when I see this thread I just don't read it...whoah, totally new concept.
SAME with all the "boring" posts PR mentioned, in FACT those and comments on em MIGHT be judged as INFORMATION to newbs.

Also agree bigtime with the guy that said both were inadequate in the information dept. Now SOME of that IS ON 440 and will hit on a google search. But some of THAT is outdated info. I been readin about the border cross Pattaya to Chonburi into some casino town near Palin, VERY interesting as they all said it was hardly any wait to go thru. But some of the posts were 2010.

There's different newbs here now too, so moto maintenance is a good ID.

I guess part of the change is the new bunch research this all out then charge in mouth blazing. But SOME who ain't been here or been here many times want to know stuff. AND GET NON SNARKY clever fuck answers. Now I know some like a forum that's like a good ol boys club where they trash talk a lot and ignore the unworthy but if that's all it is, no one will fucking READ IT but trash talkin assholes.

Bottom line for me, yeah, I been there a bit, over the last 5 years and I hang in non tourist areas so by now I kinda know how to get around but of COURSE I'm still learning. (like I got no idea what this bags of green liquid thing that someone was rippin into mods for not knowing about *IS*) So YEAH, I LIKE to hear all kinds of little tidbits, if it's not interesting I stop reading, I don't shoot the author. Personally I think the lack of content is partially lack of old hands speakin up, but I'm sure there's a few. Almost ANYTHING about LIVING there interests me, except the "how can I live like I do in the West" posts. Fuck belgian chocolate. I ain't lookin for ballet either.
but I digress again, heh

and PR post about thailand, and if someone bitches, tell em to take a flyin F at a rolling donut. I am SURE a LOT of us either started in Thailand, transit THRU it spending some time there now and then or go there as much or more.

I love reading restaurant reviews (shocking, I know). As long as the title is tagged correctly, I don't see why anyone is bothered by them.

Restaurant reviews are okay. A bit dull, and I rarely read the whole thing, but I almost always look at them if for no other reason than ideas about new places to eat and things to order.
