A Close Call

Post by Ronny »

So last Friday, me and my Filipina gf decided to go to her friends house (a filipino family of 3) to have a few beers and some Pinoy food. Around 9 pm and a little tipsy we decided to go home so called a Uber. He shows up 10 minutes later (says he had trouble finding the place) and off we go. To get to our place takes about 10 minutes. So as we get past the National Stadium, 4 motos approach us- 2 on the right and 2 on the left. I knew something was up immediately as they slowed down and made no effort to pass our slow-moving Uber. So I point at one of the guys on the right as a way of letting him know that I'm on to his game and then pull out my phone and pretend like I'm dialing someone. At this point, the 2 motos on the right go behind the Uber and then to the left of us with their 2 other buddies and they sped away. Was this a set up by the Uber driver as he seemed so calm the whole time? And does this kind of shit happen a lot here? If so, this place is fucked up as it was only 9 pm and we were going home by Uber. What do you guys think? And past experiences from you guys?

I don't see any real reason to think the Uber driver was involved. He stayed calm. Good for him. I also don't think getting on the phone would be enough to call off a crime ring consisting of 4 motos and a car.

Who else knew your whereabouts.....? Maybe it was some Filipino friends chasing you down to say you were about to miss a round of blackjack... :stir:

No cars involved, General, and it was actually pretty scary and I don't scare easily. The phone was a heat of the moment thing- seemed like the only thing to do. What would YOU have done?

So, the Uber wasn't a car? What was your Uber vehicle?

One of those little tuk-tuk thingies you call to pick you up. I thought Uber used tuk-tuks here as well as cars. If not then my bad.
