Whenever you go to Thailand these days, hordes of Chinese tourists can be spotted chatting noisily as they queue at Bangkok’s Suvanabhumi airport for visas.
Screaming. Screaming like macaques that only have one banana, is what you mean.

Some members feel that there is no influx of Chinese visitors to Thailand and I think this is because they cannot see the wood for the trees. These "zero dollar or baht" tours are becoming the norm destroying local economies as they refuse to spend any money and prevent other tourists from doing so.

For example Promthep in Phuket. I have been visiting Phuket since 1980 and have spiritual family there. One of our favourite sights is watching the sun set from Promthep. We would park the car, buy some BBQ chicken and a drink then sit and watch the sun go down.

Fast forward to today......Grid locked with Chinese tour buses. Vendors hardly selling anything and other tourists saying "never again".

The "quality Chinese tourist" is what Thailand wants and it is sure getting it's wish.

Only a matter of time before they spill over to Cambodia and destroy the local scene here as well.

If Phuket could work its magic and have a few more mass boat drownings of Chinese that should work wonders for tourist numbers.

Chinese tourist numbers fall as Phuket boat capsize deaths highlight Thailand’s terrible safety record.

The Bangkok Post, citing industry sources, reported that 7,300 hotel rooms in Phuket had already been cancelled for July and August as of late last month.
Kongkiat Khuphongsakorn, president of the Thai Hotels Association Southern Chapter, which includes Phuket, told local media: “The booking rate has fallen sharply by 80 per cent to 90 per cent at Patong beach, and by 50 per cent across the province [Phuket] after the [boat disaster].”

It did not help that Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon blamed the boat tragedy on Chinese tour operators acting through Thai nominees, who he said were responsible for harming their fellow Chinese. Prawit later retracted his statement under pressure.

Already happening. When I ask (western) tourist what they thought of the Angkor temples the answer usually is 'Oh I loved it! So impressive! [insert temple name] was my favorite. But oh there was way too many Chinese tourist, really ruined the atmosphere.'
And of course they will go home and tell their friends and relatives the same which will have huge effects on tourism in the years to come.

yea, like i said there here, 30% of the 32 million are Chinese
BUT they are ONLY in the Major tourists spots ( Promthep cape)

BTW, its not all about zero$$
Pool villa behind my house is rented on a daily basis and is only used by Chinese families at $450/day
Its a BIG country

as to zero $$

LGBT Chinese flocking to buy Thai property

LGBT Chinese purchasing power was $938 billion in 2017, up triple from two years earlier. The group's average monthly income is five times larger than the national average.

The median budget for LGBT mainland Chinese buyers in Bangkok this year is about $160,000, which varies from period to period and depends on what is in the market," Ms Law said. "Their budget seems to be consistently 5% or 10% higher than the median for all mainland Chinese buyers."

"The advantage in disposable income may be even greater because they do not have children," Ms Law said.
In the wake of the Phuket boating disaster on July 5, in which 47 Chinese tourists died, buyer inquiries dropped to 17% of the long-term average, but indications are that the decline will be temporary.

Even after the decrease, inquiries for Phuket property in mid-2018 were nearly twice the level of the same period in 2017.

During the low season, at least as far as Phuket goes, without the Chinese it would be dead here..
Now if they could only stop fucking yelling all the time and learn some common manners.
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

:assasin:

[Once in the country, visitors are often pressured into buying goods from certain stores while on tours, and sometimes browbeaten into buying additional gifts. If they object, they are scolded and even punished. They may not have their hotel room key returned by their guide, for example, according to a report last year in the Financial Times.]
