chinese in cambodia

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

yeah sihanoukville seems to be changing at a rapid rate,
a number of friends have had to relocate because chinese have bought out their apartment blocks
the night markent bought out and demolished, snookies bar/restaurant bought out and demolished,
333 KTV, King Pharoah KTV both gone because of the chinese, Aqua Resort another victim
Casinos popping up everywhere
and thats just this year

The one-child policy is part of the gender imbalance, but the traditional preference for sons over daughters is the main reason it is skewed. Same goes for India and Vietnam.

They've been here since the time of the Khmer Empire and probably before. So more than a millennium. They'll be here for long after all the long-noses are gone.
begs the question if you ask me. There's a billion of em now, and millions are making more than enough to travel, although not far perhaps. AND they want to expand biz holdings. Plus with virtually no real policing they can do what they might get "reeducated" for back home. What happens in Cambodia didn't happen :) This has the potential to have a bigger impact on the country than the french ever did.
