Child Safe

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. I would suggest calling the US embassy and asking what documents are required to obtain a US passport for your child without the mother's signature (which is a requirement for the application). Simply tell them the short story - child's mother is having problems with drugs. Prior to the passport you need to obtain the report of birth abroad. Given the circumstances they likely will request a DNA test to establish paternity (which you have to pay for).

The response from the embassy will feel like a warm bath, I am sure. Full of empathy, understanding and most important, cooperation.

Domestic issue 'resolved'. Very happy with professionalism of the Siem Reap police, child safe and authorities involved.
Yup, so here it is, then closing this one out...

Got her in, she lied through her teeth. Got her to police station, they took her urine and then they (police) wanted to speak with me first. They said if she was positive then they would immediately hand baby to me and take her directly to prison or rehab. My choice. They went on to explain, that if she tested negative then they would have a major problem with me for ruining her reputation and I would be 'in big trouble with them'. Not sure what that meant exactly. Their rationale was, if she was in prison and I decided to not take care of the baby, they would have to deal with it... him...

I explained my side... Just wanted to ensure baby's safety, she hasn't been under my observation for some time, some drugs leave your system in a matter of days, she has shown symptoms of drug user blah blah blah...

Didn't care.

We went back to discuss situation with counselors... I said OK no test but I want baby under my control again.

Great! They all agreed. We were ordered to join hands over the table and REPEAT AFTER ME: 'I L0VE YOU AND PROMISE TO TAKE CARE OF YOU' we each had to repeat...

We then signed a contract saying what the other was not allowed to do. She was nice enough to allow me to drink beer...but only a little. I also have to pay for her and baby for life. After signing, I was told that we were officially let off with a warning and told to take her home. To my house.

This was complete with photo shoot. Movies, photos..... Lots of them. I'm guessing we are plastered all over facebook somewhere with the caption SAVED RELATIONSHIP.

At least baby is under my control again and has birth cert. She seems genuinely happy again. I'm the guy grimacing in the pictures....

So if I understand correctly you are living with your druggie wife and child on a contractual basis and you find that satisfactory?

You agreed, in writing, that you and your child will live with, and you will financially support, a junkie violent prostitute that you've never been married to, for the rest of your life?

You signed that you’re going to pay for her and the baby for life? The girl is probably younger than you and the baby is definitely younger than you. Both may outlive you. So how are you planning on providing support to them after you pass away?

I have serious doubts that the relationship will last that long. I'm curious how much prewarning the girl may have had about the drug test.

doesn't mean shit WITHOUT court order
I had the exact same thing,, paper filled out in front of my lawyer, (although had a one time payment... not for life an no promise to love each other) ......stupid move on ur part
with that paper, filled for sole custody of my daughter thru family court and it was granted.

asap; go to ur embassy,(if ur American get the Consular Report of Birth Abroad) go with her, fill it out, submit it, get ur son's passport at the same time.
.....His mother has turned junkie, prostitute
Yea,this relationship will last :please:
