Haha, I'd say you might not be far off if you think it's an attempt to get some well-needed traffic over there, or something like that.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 2:34 pm i for one. would like to know if this is just some to raise 440's traffic or does it have any truth?
The answer is an easy one: NO
We don't do anything like what Alexandra is falsely and weakly claiming. He's basically saying that because Google sometimes grabs the wrong date to show in their Google Search snippets that we MUST be doing something underhanded to get Google to backdate them so that it appears that we reported it first, but that's utter bullshit, and I think he knows it too. He seems to suggest that because Google shows the wrong date sometimes it's proof we are somehow 'telling' Google a different date, but it's well documented that it's just a mistake that they sometimes make. Google themselves have an article about it and they make it clear that they crawl a page and try to decide which date to put, but they can get it wrong. They expressly state that it's an error on their end that they don't have a fix for.
There are numerous SEO articles about it, and how Google can even wrongly choose a date from the future, if it's mentioned on the page somewhere. He asked Gavin if he could come up with any examples, and Gavin delivered, lol.
I believe it happens because we often talk about another date in an article, and Google admits that they can get confused by that. Alexandra would like to ignore all evidence of it happening and falsely claim that the ONLY assumption is that we are doing something to get those results, but he's simply wrong.
There's really not much to discuss, as it clearly happens and Google themselves talk about it. Here: https://developers.google.com/search/bl ... t-date-for
The most notable quotes directly from Google about this in the link above:
"Google determines a date using a variety of factors, including but not limited to: any prominent date listed on the page itself or dates provided by the publisher through structured markup.
Google doesn’t depend on one single factor because all of them can be prone to issues. Publishers may not always provide a clear visible date. Sometimes, structured data may be lacking or may not be adjusted to the correct time zone. That’s why our systems look at several factors to come up with what we consider to be our best estimate of when a page was published or significantly updated."
Personally, I think it shows just how vindictive Alexandra can be. I don't think it's any coincidence that he comes up with that crap about a day after I call him out for how they use the so-called 'guest post' feature on there! I called it a deceptive trick, which he clearly wasn't happy about, so then he goes and starts a totally bullshit topic about how he thinks we manipulate Google results, which is just no true at all. He tries to speak all techy about how we could 'theoretically' do it, but I think it's pretty obvious that if we were doing it, you could actually see it in the HTML files or something. He ignores all examples of it happening elsewhere, and I believe it's because he knows we don't do it, but he's upset about my comment so he's willing to write up a bunch of bullshit to accuse us of anything that would make us look bad.
I can see why he's a bit butthurt about my comments though. I think he thought he'd buy Khmer440 and turn it around with all his tech skills, but instead, it's continued to fade away. After copying almost literally every feature we have on here (similar topics at the bottom of other topics, most recent topics at the top of the homepage, matching the 'users online' timeframe to us, etc), he came up with what he thought would be a brilliant idea: the 'guest post' feature. Just like a few of his other buddies on there, he seems to think it's perfectly acceptable to spread whatever bullshit accusations about someone just because you don't like them, with no regard for the truth.
I made a video just to give everyone a better idea of how Google decides what dates to put in their snippets and why there's literally nothing to suggest we have anything to do with Google using the wrong date for some of our snippets:

cabal : a secret political clique or faction.
Seems rather exaggerated, I don't see any evidence of such a thing existing.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

It's a ridiculous and desperate claim. I thought the days of forum wars were over? Enough with that nonsense.

That’s a cute video (I like your Yoda) that doesn’t really answer relevant questions.
Why did you install a third party plug-in on CEO that allows you to change post dates and times? Other forums don’t have it installed, and other forums don’t have date issues on Google.
There’s no point to make videos about something that is right there: ext/javiexin/chgposttime/composer.json

No, I agree but you’re barking up the wrong tree I’m afraid. It is Gen Mack who cares about who did or did not post something first to the degree that he accuses us of changing post times. When it was pointed out that he has installed a plugin to do exactly that, this video ensued.
General Mackevili wrote: ↑Thu Dec 03, 2020 12:00 pm Haha, I assure you that was AFTER they 'edited' their forum, no surprise.
Notice how a post by someone who said 'i heard he was released' after we posted it was deleted, and then a post from 'earlier' magically appeared on there in its place? If you still fall for their deceptive tricks over there, I have a bridge to sell you.
