It was the FB "headlines" : first an Englishman, then 2 Canadians beaten up at JJ's - that seem to imply that JJs is somehow worse than the other beach places. I really don't know, but if it's on FB it must be true I guess.

Holy cow what the fuck is happening there when I was last in as a SHV I wasn't scared I never felt threatened mind you I didn't get shitfaced and I was home by around 11 o'clock but shit looks like nothing but violence there now. Oh by the way "I AM CANADIAN!"

I've not been in that crap house since they used to be near the pier! This was when they did the booze cruises that nearly cost people their lives by overloading a 45.people boat with more than 90. When it sank everybody got rescued but could have been much worse. But the worst of it was JJ's blamed the boat capsizing by a few dancing on the top deck and paid the police off then the newspapers to report it in the words" it was the "long Nose's dancing on the roof that caused the problem". Some went back to JJ's complain and ask for their money back and were told to fuck off!

tbh JJ's is a short walk away from the other bars situated on the otherside of the walk through street, its a dark and shady area round there in the early hours, with moto drivers hanging around trying to sell drugs n shit, ive seen a few fights on my drunkenly strolls between khmers and backpackers, when it involves the locals though its best not to get involved, there was actually a drunken fight between backpackers one of the last time i was in JJ's actually,
the backpacking crowd over the past couple of years seems to of changed a fair bit, so many fucking idiots about, i avoid the beach at night now if i can get away with it, its rarely a pleasant experience, although i do show up sometimes around 4am when most of the crowds have gone home and i stand and have a drink with my mate whos bar manager at dolphin,

a lot of my khmer friends prefer going to JJ's out of all the beach bars, because of all the freelancers/ladyboys/sex tourists on the dolphin side
