Canadian Man Commits "Suicide" by Hanging (suspicious)

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Fair enough, but the setting just seems so set up. Where is he? It's hard to think the dude just went out into what appears like the middle of nowhere to off himself like that.

of course.
once the novelty of owning a nice house and nice cars and having money in the bank wears off what you're supposed to do ?

you can feel like shit even as a billionaire if inside you're not a happy person.
i feel a lot more happy here in asia than in my past life back home as a white collar with a nice salary and all.

Yeah, exactly this. I was an ambulance officer in this town and saw too many early check-outs, most of these guys thought going after the six figure income and somehow proving yourself a man was going to set them up for life. When they found they were still sad, lonely and unsatisfied, what hope then?

That would be the local sangkat police chief.

I just wanted to ask, seeing how many people die either by choice or by suicide here ... do they not do a toxicology test? It is not expensive.

Could they not take it out of the fees at least for the hotels and gh's here and maybe through in a little extra for the guy on a twig?

I don't think they usually do. Seems embassies would almost insist on it every time.

I am guessing this was a joke.
From personal experience if the embassy is involved from the beginning and the GH owner foreigner himself, the cost can be from 0$ to a couple hundred bills for "tip"

I know from a friend who has sadly had a couple of people pass away in his guesthouse over the last couple of decades that the amount paid was around $800. All above board with nothing dodgy going on.
