Canadian Daughter Looking For Information About Her Father, Terry Avon, Who Died in Cambodia Back in 2007

Post by General Mackevili »

I stumbled across this, and I guess it just grabbed my attention. It's the daughter of the deceased Terry Avon, who died in Cambodia back in 2007, and she's been looking for answers regarding his life and death.

The interesting part is this: Years ago she went spamming all over the place trying to contact people who knew him, or knew about him and she never got any replies on Facebook. Or so she thought.....

She just realized that she DID receive answers, over a year ago. However, they were caught on Facebook's Spam Message Filter.

After reading this, I decided I'd go have a look at my messages that Facebook deemed spam. Didn't know what to expect, but damn! There are some amazing messages in there! !

I have messages dating back almost 6 years that I would have loved to have received back then! Messages from long lost relatives, exes, and even a strange message from the parents of some Cambodia expat who took it upon themselves to hit up all his Facebook friends when he went missing. Check out this nugget, LoL:

"Hey Mackevili... this is R**** ,,,*****'s dad...We are very concerned about his whereabouts and current situation in Cambodia...we last heard from him more than a week ago...we are ready to contact the embassies and law enforcement to help us find out what his situation is now...last we saw and heard...****** was attack by a person with a cleaver and needed stitches and antibiotics asap...if you have info or can get a message to him or from him please do before we call in the authorities...thanks for you help...
Best of all good wishes,
R*****

From memory, the dude is ok now, but holy hell.

So 2 things: Seriously check your hidden Facebook messages, and also help Jada Lynn Avon if you happen to know anything about her father, Terry "Tvon" Avon.

"A tidbit about Jada...
Some of you may know I was trying to dig up information on my estranged father who apparently passed away in 2007 in Cambodia of an unknown cause. (It's an interesting story of anyone wants to know)
With the help and computer skills of someone very special to me, sitting in our PJs for 10 hours straight and sipping on coffee (then beer) we were able to dig up some old online public chat room threads of conversations my dad was having with his peers and coworkers in Thailand/Cambodia right up until the time he died.
People talked about my dad 'Terry Avon' Aka "Tvon" years after he passed. They spoke highly of him but appeared they didn't know about the offspring he left behind in the 1980's in Canada! (Jeff and I)
I desperately tried to get a hold of somebody on these threads so that I could get his story and learn his life.
These threads, of course were no longer up to date with how people communicate these days so I turned to the next best place… Facebook!

A year has since passed since my search for info and I had given up. (kinda forgotten..again)

Tonight I came across this link people have been sharing so I checked it out not expecting much....(being bored actually)
Little did I know people WERE responding to me!! Immediately!! In messenger!!
Students of my fathers, (he was a teacher in Thailand?) and few acquaintances and even one of his best friends!
I have some people to talk to and info to dig up! Finally[SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

So....What's hidden in your box!?

Ps....Facebook, you should change that!!!

The 440 thread about his death was started by KIR, and is quite nice, a kind tribute to him. I guess that was before mocking and ridiculing every dead expat became a sport.

Apparently he worked at Peace Pub for a while. There is a post by Peaceman on Travelfish that alludes to the suspected cause of death.
