Canadian bike thief Tye Brennan Charles Finley on way from Hanoi to Cambodia

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. We will never know, but if the guy has a caring family it's very unlikely he would be desperate enough to steal a motorbike.

Hanoi is bad for thief's, they most likely robbed his bike and he panicked.

A good reason not to rent equipment in SEA, The locals simply cannot be trusted.

Tye is not a thief, I know his family, this is a huge misunderstanding that went terribly wrong. His mother Sandra is worried sick for her son, who traveled to a foriegn country alone to go on what was supposed to be an adventure of a lifetime. If you were in a similar circumstance and your loved one suddenly stopped there daily updates on there adventure to his family back home , you would be worried as well. It only takes a moment for ones life to change forever, life is precious and should not be taken for granted. I am extremely happy his mother posted he has resurfaced. More details I am sure will come out soon

Sure, no one with a caring family would ever do anything wrong, it's a proven fact.

And of course it's the local's fault if a cheapskate backpacker robs them. Their brown skin makes them inherently evil. 8)

True JB.

I was thinking that maybe the moto was stolen whilst in his possession and the disagreement stemmed from his inability to accept responsibility for the lost bike and honour the rental agreement which would have a clause covering such an event..... so why would the owners lie about him stealing it?

Or could there be another scenario?
Or the lad is just an entitled little scrote and paid for his wankish behaviour in the form of a beating.

Samantha said it’s all a misunderstanding. Assuming she’s actually with him in country.

She said that it's a misunderstanding assuming that such a blue eyed pretty white boy would never do such a thing. Take a look at the news section and you see this type of stuff happening all the time. "Little Timmy would never do drugs!"

Nobody would ever do anything here. Excuses. Where is the bike or the money for it?
