Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. Canadia Bank QR pay

Post by boofhead »

Hi everyone, Hope you are all safe and well. I have a bit of a dilemma at the moment. Despite having more than sufficient funds in my Canadia Bank account, I've misplaced the card. I have noticed a QR pay option on my Canadia mobile app. Has anyone used this before, and if so any pointers/advice or ideas on merchants/supermarkets and the like who may accept payment in this manner? The Canadia Bank website is pretty short on info.

Look Around. ABA is king (most (all?) merchants have their code), AcLeda is second (40-50% have their code) and Canadia is behind, way behind I think. Never seen their QR in Phnom Penh to be honest. But I'm with AC.

I hear you Kammekor. I was more than a little miffed when my school transitioned from cash payments to Canadia accounts. At least the number of Canadia ATMs has grown a little lately, although most will only dispense $100 bills. Present circumstances being as they are it's a little difficult to "look around".

Big outlets (Lucky, Pencil, Thai Hout, Bayon, Pencil) are probably your best bet. You could try to call them before going there... I'm scared very few here are banking with Canadia, ABA seems king for the PP boys and girls.

I do most of my banking with ABA yet all my funds there are tied up in a term deposit. I still have an ABA card, no other funds on it at present. Was so close to withdrawing some $ from Canadia and deposit into ABA, but like I said I've been caught on the hop by this lockdown. The bank to bank transfer from Canadia to ABA requires a One Time Password (OTP) in the Canadia app which of course doesn't work and the transfer may take some time anyway.

I used the One Time Password from ABA about three weeks ago and it worked like a breeze. But only if the phone number registered with ABA is the one of your current SIM. If it's different you have to change to phone number in their system first.

It annoys me how they just assume everyone has a smart phone. Just because every young Khmer girls spend 24/7 on theirs... it doesn't mean the same for everyone else.

The One Time Password is not sending despite several attempts. Knowing Canadia they've registered the wrong number to my account. To say there were teething problems setting up the account in the first place would be an understatement.

You can check the registered phone number in the settings section of the app.

You don't need a smartphone for banking.
