Can a Thai National "Overstay" in Cambodia?

Post by Jamie_Lambo »

A friend of a friend, who is Thai, has came to Cambodia about 9 months ago, as far as im aware, Thais don't need visas for Cambodia, She now wants to go back to Thailand but is now worried in case she gets into trouble at immigration due to her staying 9 months...

So as the title states, will she run into any bother when trying to return back to Thailand, is there a time limit on a Thai nationals stay in Cambodia?

They only have a 14 day exemption (same as Cambodians in Thailand). If they plan to stay longer than that they need a visa just like everyone else.

So, yes , they will have a problem when leaving

thais get 14 days visa exempt
they can also buy a visa like anyone else>( i know a few thais married that have 1 year eos's)
$5/day overstay and maybe worse

My suggestion, head to poi pet an just walk across avoiding immigration and get rid of her passport

Overstay is $10 a day now.

^This is spot on....that's going to be a hefty overstay fine!

@phuketrichard , overstay fine is $10 per day, increased back in 2016.
