Can a Thai National "Overstay" in Cambodia?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. I dont know if she will have any issues if she tries to return to Cambodia in the future.

Yes, but what is the key in the Cambodian immigration system? The nationality and passport number? In this case changing the passport could be the solution.

She wont be able to change her passport, as the Thai computer will have her as NOT in Thailand on her old passport an ask
"what happened"??
Unlike Americans, khmers, thais, laos stamps their nationals back into their country

Bottom line; she can avoid the fine and easily get back to thailand, BUT without a name change, new house paper and new passport, her travel days are over

Can't she just go to Thai authorities and claim she got back via Poi Pet after a week and the Passport wasn't stamped and ask for a return stamp?

This is one of those situations where there are too many unknowns for anyone to give a definite answer.

She may try to cross the border on a back road, and get caught. If she does, she may have to pay the fine.

She may not get caught.

If she returns to Thailand without getting caught, they will probably not know she overstayed her visa, so the fine may not be an issue.

If she does return to Cambodia, it may not be an issue, but nobody can be sure. It may be wise to wait until her passport expires and she has a new one, so there is no record of this trip.

Advise her to obey the rules in future. That does not mean she will.

There are people crossing borders in asia without even having a passport. Some get caught, many dont.

I think her fingerprints could be her undoing even if she has a new passport as they would scan and cross reference these.

I am not sure how well the passport system works but the national I'd system can find people who have scanned before under another name

wtf
u truly are clueless

1. if she enters Thailand without going thru immigration she enters illegally and will pay a fine an might go to Thai jail and who knows if thailand will inform Camboida about her non exit stamp.
... Of course she might not get caught, BUT she can than NEVER leave Thailand again as the computers will have her as exiting BUT never returning.
2.same as 1, PLUS of course they will know, fuck she wont have a Cambodian exit stamp nor a thai entry stamp.
3. COMPUTERS!! of course they will know. just cause u get a new passport all data from previous passports is in the system. PLus her fingerprints are in the system...

4. the ONLY thing u say that is correct.
