In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

You didn't need to post propaganda to make that point. It just calls into question your ability to separate propaganda from news.phuketrichard wrote:see;

You might want to try reading the local papers:phuketrichard wrote:they use Burmese

The comments came after a large number of illegal foreign workers reportedly streamed back to their home countries — mainly to Myanmar and Cambodia — following the National Council for Peace and Order's...Â

Last sentence of the Bangkok Post article linked in the previous post:
"Meanwhile, a major fish market operator in Khlong Yai district, Trat has dismissed rumours that four Cambodian workers were shot dead there during an army crackdown."
No further comment by the reporter. Fierce Thai investigative journalism unleashed.

Re: Cambodians return home
look until hear positive proof i will not believe any were killed,
dismissed rumours that four Cambodian workers were shot dead there during an army crackdown.
did u see how they responded to the anti Coup protestors? they didn't start beating them at first or arresting them ( until later) but actually left to avoid confrontation.iT was all over the news, The men on the ground have been given strict orders to avoid any bloodshed.
The new people in town want to be accepted as the "Saviors" of the country an are doing mostly a dam good job
better than any previous government in power for along time. What they have accomplished in Phuket already has been fantastic
Give them time, they are working out the kinks an you will see, Thailand, their neighbors an all countries that do business with them will be better off in the future.

Re: Cambodians return home
I hope yo'u're right on that one Richard, but a few headline grabbing obvious clampdowns against easy targets and populist measures are an easy initial feel good action. I'll judge them on how well they address the institutionalised corruption across the state, political and elite divide in the longer term.phuketrichard wrote:

Fingers crossed.

The National Council for Peace and Order denies it has any policy to evict Cambodian migrants and has rejected accusations of abuse. It suggested many of the migrants are simply leaving to farm rice in their home country.

Re: Cambodians return home
I find it amusing the same guy who posts this:
http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asi ... 25572.html
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-05-28/t ... ck/5485118
Thinks they're not in any way controlling media reports. Especially among poor migrant workers who won't be very high profile if they go missing dead in a ditch somewhere.Enjoy the internet while it lasts
Sources have confirmed rumours that the MICT is at least in the vendor consultation phase of a total lock-down of the domestic internet. Under the plan, every Thai citizen will need to authenticate an internet log-on session with a smart ID card.
http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asi ... 25572.html
Facebook, which is not a Thai owned site, had an error and the ICT was "fixing" it? Amazing that Facebook is now hiring the Thai government as tech support! The military regime which seized power on May 22 said it had not pulled the plug on the site.
"We have not ordered a block of Facebook -- it's not our policy," said army spokesman Colonel Winthai Suvaree.
"Facebook experienced a slight technical failure and the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is working to fix it now," he said.
Then... the next day...So far about 330 websites have been taken offline by the junta, according to technology crime suppression officials.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-05-28/t ... ck/5485118
"We have blocked Facebook temporarily and tomorrow we will call a meeting with other social media, like Twitter and Instagram, to ask for cooperation from them," Surachai Srisaracam, permanent secretary of the Information and Communications Technology Ministry, told Reuters.
