Cambodians return home

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

On a vaguely related note, it's a bit sad the way Khmers get treated when they are most vulnerable, by their own people.

1. The bridge disaster: Oh, your kid got trampled to death? Pay $100 and you can have her body.

2. Oh, you're a refugee who earns $5/day in Thailand? Here, we'll process the papers for you for ONLY $49.

Disgusting.

[clarification: not saying you're racist/etc with that... only that you are great at running the party line and buying the propaganda machine]

hey;
if u live in Thailand (as i do an i see what they have done) u would see what they have accomplished already

in the past 3 weeks they have done more to clean up phuket than anyone EVER Has
we have clean beaches now, all taxi stands on government land demolished, the taxi mafia is dead, many officials ( both mayors of Kata an Karon )arrested an many drivers being held an questioned just today 10,000 pages of evidence turned over to Phuket prosecutor for taxi-mafia cases -It represents a total of 12 cases and 112 arrests

Migrant workers being giving legal rights now to work here,

Wait till u hear of the results when they start next week checking all the rice warehouses.

100 teams will be set out with results to be presented first week in august they have 1,500 warehouses to check
Lat week they checked one warehouse, found 91,000 tons of rice MISSING
What they had done is stacked them up an left the whole center empty,
another place they checked and found not rice but SAND in the bags.

I would bet NONE of u have access to thai news an have no idea what is really going on, only what you read in western publications yet you claim to know.... :plus1: :plus1: an say awww bad army

So you're basing what's happened on a national level off of a single tourist town, and saying that the ends justify the means?

And I love how the junta controlled news is what you keep citing as your rock solid source on what the junta is doing...

It's like saying watching one of HE's speeches on CTN is a great way to find out how well the CPP is governing Cambodia.

you dont get it;

I SEE what they are doing here, ( all i have written)it has zero to do with controlling the news
I SEE what they have done for the migrant workers,
Yes its only 1 small province ( that is on international news) but its a start, they have only been at it a month

I SEE on thai tv the films of the rice warehouses,

This is not what i read,

Are u saying its all fake> fuck get real!!

What is your hatred for against them??

YES in this case the ends ( a more peacefull, non corrupt Thailand) justify the means

At least you admit it's all based on a single tourist (westerner) focused province... interesting how you spread that to an unquestioning belief that it's what's happening countrywide.

You're new to how government sponsored propaganda works aren't you...

Even video's can be staged. I'm not saying it's fake, i'm saying the possibility of it being faked is not outside the realm of plausibility. You're the one making absolutes. You're like a religious fanatic in your defense of them. Even to the point of saying that a totalitarian dictatorship is worth it so long as everyone is too terrified to protest it or rise up against it.
