This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Is Cambodia like Thailand where men buy houses for these women, regularly lose everything and get away from her village alive if they're lucky?
She's got that ex-wife look.

BUT on the other hand, she could be a very nice lady living with an abusive asshole.

No, but the baby. He's got the baby. If hubby gets deported she gets the baby. If she wanted the baby then filing bogus complaints to have him deported might just work.

Have you ever heard of immigration police investigating assault before? I haven't, feel free to prove me wrong. Don't they have sangkat police where they live?

Don't forget that this happened in small-town Kep, not PP. Maybe the immigration police there deal with foreigner problems. or maybe they are the closest police to where the couple is living, or maybe the wife knows someone there ? I don't know, but things work differently in small town Cambodia.

However, a woman who calls the cops against her husband usually has a reason, and it was probably because she was afraid. More chances of that IMO, than that she is scheming to take his money and his kid. But, as has been said, we don't know. We don't know if this has happened before, and we don't know the people involved. No fun for the kid in any case.

i love how aussies have advice and it just fucks the guy over..
i think it depends on what he threw..
domestic shit is complicated..
why not discuss the khmer guy who just burned down his wife's mother's house with him and his wife and kid in it?
at least you have some evidence of foul play

Again forgive me for not seeing things your way but at age 59, deported back to Oz, after losing his "investment" in Cambodia, an infant will be an impediment regardless of whether he dyes his hair or not. At age 77 he would be able to attend her high school graduation in a wheelchair. The opportunity to find a "partner" in life would be severely limited, not many 60-year-old women are up for raising a small child especially for a man that's life has come undone due to accusations of domestic violence. A younger woman ( of mothering age) more than likely would not be that interested in raising someone else's child for her husband that has a limited shelf life. All in all, re-education certainly seems a very good option.

You have no idea what context the photo was taken in. Simply getting a divorce end ones spousal visa, why go to the trouble of involving the police, she could see a lawyer and just say "I am tired of having to have 225 lbs of sweaty barang climbing on top of me and having to stare at the ceiling until he is finished", and the top bloke is gone.

There is no such thing as a spousal visa in Cambodia.

I'll bet the picture was taken by the police as they confronted him over this conflict. It looks rather candid and from a strange angle.

wow; you guys are in fine form today

Got to love ceo, always there to make assumptions based on nothing but a simple story ,
"...the Australian man threw something at his wife during an argument between the couple, but nobody was injured. .."

and photo
