not sure about Cambodia, but i have visited friends, people i have known in jails in Nepal, Thailand, Korea & India.

I hear how horrible it is, and I have seen some photos that match, but also when I see the barang prisoner's photos when they are appearing for court, they might look a bit thinner, but do not look sickly either.

Not sure, it seems an innocent person could get banged up pretty easily with mixed up information, extortion, being framed, or any number of FU scenario's which has been claimed a lot. That part scares me because it's really hard to be low profile when you stand out in the crowd as a white.

If you are successful and edging up on others, what about the motive of your competitors taking you out, is it possible?

I have done some charitable prison work in my life. I also once was the only male in a women's prison tour group, and while in college, we had a weekly visitation group at that same prison which was fascinating. Otherwise, I visited an inmate at the request of his dad. I am sort of interested in prisoner rights and could get behind something like that kind of work I think.

Be aware that to be active in something like prisoner rights and anything that may be seen as against the Government or its "competent authorities" you should be prepared to learn about the mixed up information, extortion, being framed that seems to effect those who do involve themselves in Khmer politics or having opinions as a foreigner.

Be as sympathetic as you like about a cause you believe in but remember that in a way of explaining "sympathy" is that it can be found between shit and syphilis in the dictionary.

I am no activists and would leave my politics at home. I just mean that I do feel for people who are held in cages as animals and that I could get behind any efforts to help them receive fair representation and some proper care and comforts, from a charitable perspective.

Are you kidding me? Talking to all the people who have graced the pages of CEO before getting thrown into Prey Sar Prison would be quite an eye-opener.

I'd assume every one of them would have interesting things to say, and they'd probably like a visit.

I once checked out one of those prison chick dating websites. For most of them their favourite thing is being outdoors.
